why do people hate this game already

it isn't out yet. nobody knows whether the game is fun, or if it is technically sound, i.e. no major bugs or glitches, or if it is mechanically broken yet, so why is it attracting so much hatred pre-release?

because in 2015, in the case of video games, people care more about continuity than gameplay. nobody cares whether these games are fun or not. they care about the writing, which is moronic. this isn't a story driven experience, it is solely based on the fun you get out of playing the game. if you want a gangster narrative, go watch the godfather series, paid in full, goodfellas, casino, a movie, television show, play a point n click game, like a telltale title,or read a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ book even.

if this game, or SR3 and SR4 were titled angels line 1, 2 and 3, you'd be perfectly fine with it, because it didn't soil a preconceived overrated narrative.

personally, i have enjoyed all of the saints row games and will continue to as long as they are quality video games. i will judge them on the merits that this genre of video games are supposed to be judged on.

i don't mean to say that stories aren't important to some genres of video games. most rpgs and point n clicks need good stories to keep the player interested because of the lack of gameplay but in a third person action shooter, rarely does it matter. sometimes a good story can elevate a game that didn't necessarily need one but you should never write a game off because it's story was subpar when it didn't need a complex one in the first place.

tl;dr : chill yo, the game isn't out yet. you don't know whether it's bad or not.

A few players dont always look at the fun factor of the game lately. The game changed mostly after saints row 2 the super powers deal nothing like the first 2 games. Alot turned away from the game series after the release of saints row 3. I doubt they take it out to much more with the pc release of the new gta getting near. I think most would love to see a return to how the first two games were. I went ahead and ordered this game or latest addon to the game. I mostly got it because A- had some steam credit and missed the last few days of the holiday deals B- I still had some fun playing the series.

Usally standalone dlcs have the same graphics/models/textures/plots/gameplay as the game they came from.

I'm curious about the recycled plot, though - at what point have we ever played as Johnny Gat and went up against Satan? I've played all of the Saint's Row games and that never seemed to come up.

I don't get it either. SR3 and SR4 are some of my favorite games, with 4 being the best of the two despite the similarities. I do understand on the recycling elements argument, seeing as the gameplay is similar to an extent. However, the idea that game is COMPLETELY recycled is not really true, The overworld, while smaller than 3/4, is different, and they made a lot of changes to the gameplay from what the showcases gave us. New weapons, new activities, and the whole idea of the piss-off-satan meter.

I've already preordered the game, and I say it's worth it. The games haven't failed yet, and I have full confidence.

i liked saints 3 and 4, ive played the second one too and yes they are very different but who cares. some people like the new ones like me and im hyped for gat out of hell, i got this the day i heard of it and to all who say these ones are ♥♥♥♥, the only reason you're saying tht is cause you liked the gangster aspect of saints 1 and 2. people need to stop crying about it and thnk that maybe they would like these ones more if they didnt play saints 1 and 2. If they started from saints 3 those people would have a much different opinion on 4 and gat outta hell

People keep acting like this is a sequel that continues the games stories but its a stand alone like far cry blood dragon standalones often use same assets from previous game because its not their huge sequel

To be fair, if this were marketed as SR 5, I would be dissapointed by stuff like the size of the map and the reuse of some elements. However, seeing that this is marketed as a spinoff if not a SR4 expansion, I can excuse it and be excited enough to want to preorder (still would've bought it either way.)
