Game crashes shortly after startup
I start up the game and get the volition and high voltage screens and after, nothing, just blackness. Then the game stops responding. Im running a pretty high end rig, running mostly everything at max. Ive verified the cache. Tried restarting my comp. My drivers are up to date. I really dont know what it could be and dont really want to have to reinstall it.

In fairness, no one is going to be able to help you without listing your specs or what "everything" covers.
Plenty of people think "high end" is whatever the sales guy at Best Buy told them, and "everything at max" means web games and low requirement MMOs.

No need to be condescending and rude.

It was not my intention to be condescending or rude. In fact, I was trying to be polite about it.
But yeah, you've definitely got the specs for it and then some. Have you tried disabling SLI and/or nVidia Surround (if enabled, my only nvidia card is a 780m, so no experience with surround).

To install, I had to run Steam as admin; not just under an admin permitted account but "Run as administrator". This is the first Steam-installed game in a long time that I've had to do that for, so I wouldn't be surprised if it might be required to avoid other issues.

I run steam the same way but still have to do that for a ♥♥♥♥ ton of games and it seems to always work I know it sounds odd since your already running under admin...but try it..

Uueerdo did the "run as admin" work around fix your problem?

The only problems I've had so far is the install wouldn't finish until I ran steam as admin when trying to install, and unintelligible sound unless I set my system audio specifically to headphones. Once I got it installed, and the system sound settings changed, it ran fine (if underperforming). But I haven't tried to run it outside of "as admin" (only had a couple of hours for gaming since it came out) so I can't say whether I would have had other issues without running it that way.

I tried running steam and the game as admin and the problem was still there. I tried disabling SLI, but that didnt work. When I go into the gamefiles I cant find any display.ini that has options in it. I find a display file but it just says that it will be rewritten whenever options are changed.

Not sure if this is even helpful, but i'll post it anyway. I had a problem with the SR3/4 where the game would only launch on my C(root) drive. I dont have this problem now, just wanted to share.

Oh wow thank you 2Fron. I actually tried reinstalling it onto my C drive and not my other harddrive and what do you know it works. Interesting, anyone know why this is?
Uueerdo Jan 22, 2015 @ 5:03pm
It could be due to folder permissions.

Glad to be of some help. I'd love to know why it works that way.
