For plot reasons I can't be totally against the direction they took, but I'm by no means thrilled about it. =/
In MGS 2, you do play as Snake for a while, ME4 isnt even out yet, and You play as Dante in Devil May Cry 4 for the 2nd half of the game. The only thing that holds up is ME4, and as we all know, Shepard is "Dead" anyways.
100% getting it during holiday sale even if its just a 1% sale
My boss left Shaundi for Kinzie during the filming of "Gangsta in Space!". Upon reading the script she was like "♥♥♥♥, Kinzie is useful. Why am I hooked up with Stripper #4?"
This paid off in 4, with Kinzie changing worlds to help Boss.
In the first game Johnny is the Saint who really supports the player character as a new Saint. No matter how bad things get for the gang, Johnny's loyal to the boss and recognizes that the boss is a better leader than he is (hence putting you in charge.)
That being said as a character Gat isn't and hasn't been terribly complex.
I'm also surprised that it isn't Shaundi and Gat, but Kinzie does seem to be a pretty big fan favourite. There's a reason she and Matt were the two big carryover characters from 3 to 4.
