G'day Spills51,

That's a difficult question to answer. Like a lot of similar games, one of the goals in City of Brass is to learn enough and build up your skills enough to be able to complete the entire campaign from start to finish in one go. But we expect that players will die - A LOT - on their way to building up those skills and knowledge: learning how the traps and enemies work, the best kinds of gear to suit your playstyle, etc.

The closest game I can point to in terms of structure is Spelunky, which I've put nearly 50 hours into and still haven't finished playing. I hope that's helpful.

Maybe some of our players can chime in with the hours they've spent.

Cheers,

Ed

I first beat the game after 20 hours. Beat the game without portals after 30-40 hours.

On the easiest mode (all burdens turned on) I can beat the game consistently in 10-13 minutes but that took a lot of practice for me

Still haven’t beaten the game with burdens

How many hours you’ll put in ultimately depends on how much you enjoy the gameplay and the roguelike genre

Is this game like a middle eastern version of Ziggurat?

There is some cross over, but where as Ziggurat is much more focused on room based combat, our game really lets you decide when and where you want to be involved in combat, or just avoid them completely if you can.

We also are more melee focused, with the whip being a utility to do lots of things in our games, either for combat, grabbing far away items or moving around.
