DOOM: The Dark Ages

DOOM: The Dark Ages

price is absurd
well i was considering on getting this game when it came out but to already see a £70 price tag just for the base game on early release and £100 for the deluxe, im not going to get it, its not a game like cyberpunk or gta where its open world and could even consider going for that price, its a doom game, its niche and always has been, idk why they think they can go for a full AAA price tag and even further (since the standard isnt 70 just yet) when doom as a franchise has 3 modern games, i also noticed the price has literally doubled every game since doom 2016

Pricing just straight up isn't fair. It should be £59.99 at most. This is the most expensive game on steam because they didn't even convert the price for both the UK and EU. I de-wishlisted it and put it on ignore.

I’ll keep it on my wishlist and wait for a sale but won’t pay $70 for a Doom game.

Game pass.

If every Doom game were to have doubled in price since 2016 then TDA would cost $240.

If charging $70 for a remake of Silent Hill 2 seems reasonable but crosses a line with TDA, it's less to do with the price and more to do with your priorities.

£59.99 was for Doom Eternal 5 years ago now new game, new features for £70 and big cry about it? Its only £10 more! for 5 years its not bad. Wait for any new games coming this year...

doom 2016: £16, doom eternal: £35, doom dark ages: £70, at least that is what steam says

Nope, Doom Eternal standard edition - $60
Doom Eternal Deluxe edition - $90

To clarify, I'm referring to price at launch. According to SteamDB, Doom 2016 launched at $59.99, dropped to $29.99 a year later in 2017, and has remained at $19.99 since 2018.

Doom Eternal also launched at $59.99 in 2020 and has been $39.99 since 2022.

So if we're talking current prices as I think you are, the launch price of Doom: The Dark Ages is one and three quarters the current price of Doom Eternal, which is twice that of Doom 2016's current price.

But if every release has doubled in price since Doom 2016 which was $59.99, Doom Eternal would have been $119.99, and Doom: The Dark Ages would currently be priced at $239.99.

According to the rate at which each Doom game has reduced in price (one year for Doom 2016 to drop by half, two years for Doom Eternal to drop by one and a half), Doom: The Dark Ages wouldn't drop at all in 2029 lol, but would realistically be $49.99.

niche? it is getting more and more mainstream and kinda casual tbh. this hasn't been a niche game since 2016 at least.

did you miss the 80€ games? guess you did...
Inflation or not, the regional pricing is simply incorrect.

It's set at $70, €80, £70

Even with sales tax not applied to the on-store prices for the US, the average sales tax is 5%, which pushes it to $73.50

This equates to €69.91 or £58.76, which would align with the usual $70, €70, £60 spread.

I know the US isn't doing so hot now (California aside), but I'm sure they're not doing so badly as to require a 15-20% price drop over the rest of us.

I don't really care about all that, just that the gameplay and setting appeal to me more.
