How about Tom Hall ?

I know Hall in an early 2000s interview said that he liked what he saw in Doom 3 trailers.(But I don't know his opinion on later Doom games)

John says things, so what.
He also said brutal doom is what doom should be even tho he likely never played it for 10 whole minutes if that, and doesnt even understand the differences beyond the gore.

Well it's interesting to some of us because he's one of the fathers of Doom and the whole FPS

Of course he'll never be a big important person like you. "so what"... do me a favor lol

Won't convince the real gaming experts.

Some of them are in the comments there.

'They've butchered Carmack and Romero's legacy' chips in some brainiac as Romero finishes the stream by saying "It's Awesome! 'Course I'm gonna play more"

Im aware of who John is, Ive practically heard or read every statement he's made publicly in whatever form, article, video, or stream..
I love john. but his personal opinions are nothing more than his personal opinions, just like anyone elses

Informed opinions tend to be worth more in both truth value and understanding to their audience than those without any, or far less expertise.
That doesn't mean informed people can't be wrong, whether they're misinformed, mislead, speaking on an issue where their expertise no longer or doesn't apply, or outright lying. It is to say that someone who has attained the status of a forefather of the modern video games' opinion on a modern video game, let alone his opinion on the most recent game in the series he pioneered, is worth a lot more to the general public than the vast majority of "anyone else."

He always says he likes everything to the public. Besides doom 3. I still laugh about that photo of him big smerking while signing a copy for someone lol. Classic.

I liked Doom 3, but not as much as the original two. I haven't touched Doom 3 in decades, but I still boot up Doom 1 and 2 at least a few times a year. Does that make my statement "I like Doom 3" false? Am I misleading you by saying so?
It's just as likely that he simply doesn't make public statements about things he doesn't like rather than sometimes, or always, outright lying to the public whenever he says he likes something.

To play devil’s advocate, Romero also apparently thought Daikatana was good enough to ship, so
Kaizen Jun 1 @ 1:19pm
He overshot his expectations vs the budget with daikatana with a bunch of newbie programmers.
id Software was great at the time because of the team it had.
Without Carmack's tech genius, Romero's ideas were just ideas.
We all know what happened to John after Doom 2 tho, at least we all should

To be fair, he said later on that Daikatana was his life's lesson in humility.
Doom brought his ego to the heavens and Diakatana crashed it back down to Earth.
