So I am able to be killed during a slow-mo animation?

I am currently in chapter 4, I found myself being killed a lot during slow-mo animation and there is literally nothing a can do about it.

there are mods to disable slow motion, also, they will add the option to disable the slow mo in sliders very soon. I believe it will be part of the path tracing update.

You will probably find it easier to dodge during the slow-mo.
