2016 has closer ties to the classics in terms of style and story, the gameplay has aspects that might feel smaller and/or limited if you play it after TDA,, and you might not appreciate the excellent graphical work in 2016 so much if you're going from a newer game with more detailed models etc to an older one.
This too. Going in order will let you appreciate how id changed the gameplay every game, and it'll be a lot nicer to play the newest game last instead of the opposite.
You'll find the story is full of plot holes anyway, no matter what order. Just shoot demons until they die and keep moving.
If you are playing for the story, then it would make the most sense to start with 2016 and experience each game in the same order as the rest of the world, so that each installment builds on your knowledge of the previous one, despite the narrative chronology. You can still play them in any order and it shouldn't impact your overall experience because the story isn't all that important to what you'll ever be doing in the game anyway, and you would eventually piece it all together after playing them all, in any order of playing.
As Doom TDA is a prequel to Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal it make sense to play it first. Otherwise you will see some story events in Doom 2016 and Eternal that has you asking 'why is the Doom Slayer doing this' if you did not play Doom TDA first.
However Doom 2016 did came out first and then Doom Eternal and now Doom TDA. Doom TDA came out because they want to tie up the loose ends in Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal to make the lore make sense. Another point is that it is easier to play Doom TDA because the other 2 are more faster pace than Doom TDA. The Other 2 has better music and gameplay so if you must play all 3 might as well start with Doom TDA first and then the other 2 will have better gameplay..
