Are The Levels Too LONG?
I know we have the meme of "Omg it's so short" from the people who clearly haven't made it past level 5, but the reality for those of us who have played it is the the levels get increasingly longer, most of the second half of the game is about 1h give or take 15 based on play style.

Seriously, anyone think they are TOO LONG? If I'm going to log for the night in like 45 min, I can't really start a level unless I want to be tired at work tomorrow.

I THINK, it lets you return to the map at the most recent check point if you quit, so that certainly mitigates the "TOO LONG" factor. I never had the stones to try it though, I was too afraid to lose like 45 min of work to find out. Anyone know either way if quitting resets the level, or just to your last check point?

Either way, these are the longest levels of any game I've played in the last 5-7 years.

saves your checkpoint. I also think the levels are long especially considering that I like to get all the secrets I possibly can. I really like that they are long though. This is single player only and if they werent the complaints of the price would be even worse.
they aren't that long. and yes, if you pay attention you will constantly see a "saving..." pop up on screen. it will take you back to every save point...depending on what mode(easy-nightmare/pandemonium/ultra-nightmare)
I feel like most levels are fine enough, but I remember Siege 1, Spire of Nerathul and Resurrections feeling like they really started to drag. Very long levels with a lot of dead space where not much interesting happens, and it's extremely apparent if you're actively going for 100% completion.

Yeah, I think We've just been conditioned for levels to be shorter, if I recall correctly, Half-Life and other classic games had levels like this, but now they seem "long."

I saw the saving thing, I've died and used checkpoints, what I wasn't sure of was if you lost them when you exited the level. Thanks for clarifying!

Oh, I'm sorry, I'm 50 and practically a boomer, so I don't have a newfangled television that requires me to push buttons and control the action. For me I think of television as a passive thing. I'll have to look up what kind of television shows you are watching that requires constant input from the user like a video game does.

Thanks for stopping by with your well thought out comment.

Go to be fragile/Carefull here -

Time to upgrade yourself from mindless tiktok/temu shows?

You may need to start with some with some i'm too young to die like Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979) and work yourself up to Endeavour; you know. Get back into shape.

Yes and NO
IMO they are not too long. They FEEL LONG on the 1st playthrough because you are searching for secrets and you are focusing on having the map challenges to be done. And that feeds up a lot of time. Not to mention the weapon mastery challenges. I usually do them as soon i purchase the last upgrade for the weapon. Then i go to the 1st arena, kill every monster with the requirement, exit to the title screen, go back. The monsters respawned and rinse and repeat. After weapon mastery done, i can enjoy the maps in my own pace and playstyle. (god i hate these challenges)

But once you don't have to focus on any side activity, going through the levels is freaking fast. I could even say thay are rather short without these artificial time extension activities.

(Interesting also to see that the maps are not semi open world like they advertised. Evry biome(?) or chapter has 1 open map and that's it. Argent D' Nur has one, hell has one, cosmic real has one....but not every map.

No need to argue you twoo. Especially as i feel it is about something pointless. :D I struggle to see how the length of a TV Show episode comes in to any comparison here. I mean...seriously.
Also why is any television requiring to push buttons constantly on the remote? I don't understand any of your comments. I should get off from weed i guess.

plot-twist: turnup the game speed to 150% then its 50% shorter levels :steammocking:
just remember to set option [x] skill to also 150% :steammocking: :steammocking:

Kinda? I think the reason it seems long because the game is boring af. Story sucks balls without a single one as interesting as Samuel hayden. Music sucks too. Imagine playing a 14 hour game listening to noise in your ear. Its gonna feel long.
The Siege lvls are too fkn long. Tired of going through on Pandemonium, getting everything done, getting to the end, making ONE BABY LITTLE MISTAKE and then I gotta restart. Well, heres run #5 on Siege 1.... ffs
I got through The Siege Part 1 the other day, and it definitely had a real Hexen vibe to it (though infinitely better, because this game has a useful map). I don't think all the levels should be that size (and they haven't been so far) but I like the occasional big, nonlinear level you can wander around and clear out at your own pace.
Though I did miss just ONE secret on that level and it showing 98% complete on the level select screen is infuriating. : p

The levels in this game are long in general. If you want all the upgrades unlocked then it'll take longer to 100% or near 100% all the levels. I did a second fresh campaign through the game and I managed to do it in about 15 hours I think... Also speaking of Pandemonium mode. I discovered that just doing the even harder Ultra Nightmare mode will not unlock pandemonium's as well. Yeah. You have to do Pandemonium as well. Though I guess if you can do UN mode it will be a cakewalk to put another 15 - 16 hours into Pandemonium.
