Why is the combat so clunky and the UI so barebones?

Like, why is there no indicator when the shield charge is available again? Most of the combat is holding the right mouse button and spam clicking until it's randomly available again. Also, LMAO, why can't I see the max ammo of my weapons? How is such an elementary UI thing missing? Furthermore why is the punch mechanic so hilarously bad? In most cases if you only got 2 punches you stand there like an idiot looking at the enemy and having made virtually no damage whatsoever. Omg this game...
