Yo this was SICK

HP Lovecraft was one of my favorite writers, I've read his entire works. Seeing the Doom Slayer being thrown into that world (even if it's just loosely based on it) was cool af. This was easily one of my favorite Doom games.

Edit: idek what happened here. 100+ comments and 95% of them are two npcs calling me a nazi for liking HP Lovecraft... What even the hell lol

Especially considering HR Giger's 'biomechanical' art style is more suited to DOOM than Lovecraft's art style is. We already have the Arachnotron which is very loosely based on biomechanical art, at least in concept.

I would disagree with HR Giger being perfect for Lovecraft, because (arguably) for one, HP Lovecraft didn't have an artstyle, he was an author. His writings didn't feature anything similar to HR Giger's works, in fact, it was pretty devoid of any mechanical aspects. Lovecraft wrote of black open seas and twinkling twilight. Focusing on spiritual journeys and beings so literally indescribably that he could only describe the madness that ensues when the mind struggles to comprehend the form.

And while yes, Giger did make an artbook titled Necronomicon (as most forms of hell-centric media have taken this concept and ran with it) I didn't find it's contents to be very Lovecraftian in nature. A lot of it was... "penisy?" and more centered around images of torture than the cosmos.

You know the Necronomicon was created by HP Lovecraft, right?
Also, 'At the Mountains of Madness' is an HP Lovecraft book.
Both have been cited as inspiration for Dooms imagery and level design.

yeah, no. also man looking at your achievements ive noticed youve hidden your play time but a lot of your achievements that cant be done simultaneously have apparently been done simultaneously, like uhhhh, fighting optional end game bossesw but also getting the achievement for killing the mime in the beginning of clair obscur at the exact same time. do you guys even enjoy video games anymore or just buy them to hack the achievements?

Also, nobody cares about his personal beliefs. For you go around tracking the beliefs of artists trying to "cancel" people you will be met with a wall, as others widely do not care in almost any circumstance.

Youre looking at achievements I got while playing illegitimate copies. I didn't buy Claire Obscure till like 10 hours in because I wanted to be sure I liked it, so rather than replay those 10 hours, I just check off things I did. Also, Claire Obscure had a lot of bugged achievements that didn't pop, for example the journals and the Nevron quests. A lot of people simply didn't have those pop.

Besides, wtf does this have to do with weather or not HP Lovecraft was racist? You just turn a hard turn and got mad at me because I didn't agree with your botched knowledge of a topic you don't know anything about.

HP Lovecraft died before Hitler committed any atrocities. The dude died in 1937. Hitler only came to power in 1933.
