How Did We Even Play
So I played doom back in the day on pc & many consoles I destinctly remember playing Jaguar version with my friend and I remember being stuck I can't remember if I ever finished it.
I played earlier on emulator Jaguar version I have no idea how I used to play and be good. You only have 1 thumb stick the movement is unplayable I got destroyed. It's so confusing going back to games with only 1 stick. How in the hell did we play.

Yeah, welcome to getting old. I think back to playing Zelda in grade school, no internet, no hint book. We just figured that ♥♥♥♥ out. I don't think I have it in me anymore. If the OG Zelda came out today, or 50 year old me teleported back to my room, I would be stuck in level one. HOW the F did I find level 7 back then??
Maybe ring that number on the box instructions when parents was not about. Did it a few times

Aww, you lucky dog! I never called the tip line!
Lol. I remember few years later PS1 I was stuck on resident evil 2 until my friend told me to use the lighter on the painting. I'm sure I was stuck there for weeks
I've been playing the old Dungeon Siege games and it's ridiculous. I'm dying fairly often. I've Googled a ton (even come across some of my old @$$ posts) and everyone was complaining about how "easy" it was back in the day myself included.

pffft. It's not easy now, not compared to any modern arpg's. Now I'm Googling trying to figure out why I suck so much.

I think games were just built different in the old days. They are now all about mass appeal and making sure anyone can win. Unless you're playing a game specifically built to be difficult (Dark Souls type games) they are all super easy today.

But yeah OP. It's not just the old shooters. It's the old everything. They are all much harder then anything out today.
Yea I have a massive retro setup I'll never actually play all my games even if I played a few a day I'd be dead before getting through my catalogue specifically with the difficulty.

My worst one ever was actually the result of a prank my friend played on me. The OG Legacy of Kain, in the very beginning, you are human and get into a fight, and lose. It's not apparent in any way that you HAVE TO LOSE to continue the game, and my best friend had it, and as a joke, the SOB told me the opening fight was really hard but you could win. He gave me tips and tricks and I tried for like 4 hours to escape that inescapable fight. I'd reset as soon as I died and tried again.

We laugh about it now, but I wanted to punch him in the face when he finally told me you have to let yourself die, and not to reset.
