Do Shield runes have a cooldown or something?
Most of the time they just straight up don't want to activate

They only activate when you parry projectiles.

From what I know they only activate on ranged green attacks not melee. So this excludes hell knights and the like that rush you down.

Yep, I didn't know this either at first and it took me quite a while for it to finally register. They really should make it clearer somehow.

Even when I would parry projectiles, they did not always proc, usually if it was right after a prior activation. They have some kind of cool down, or the game is bugged. Either or.
