Finally Beat it
Honestly, It does get better towards the end. The music, the fights, the levels design, the story, every thing gets better towards the end. The very end. If the game didn't have turrets, dragons, and mechs(oh my) It'd have been much more fun for me to play. If my first play through wasn't on nightmare and the only part of the game that I used my extra lives on was the final boss then maybe I would be compelled to play again and try to get better. For the most part the game was sluggish and repetitive. There were times where I had to force myself to push forward. Some weapons seem completely useless, there is a lot of overlap. Chainshot is cool tho. Fun gun to use and it's strong. Oh, and the game looks great w/o the film grain. IDK who figured it out, but thank you.

Anyways to improve the game I think add omnidirectional sprint, put more heavy tier demons in a fight at a time, lower the health of the cacaodemons or take away their shield then make them fast adn more aggressive and introduce them earlier into the game, make fodder move more(no more pre-heated shield walls or plasma shield walls just standing there) "Boss" demons need to stand out much MUCH more, Heavy demons need to have better and clearer sound cues on spawn and major attacks, let the player upgrade when ever they want(no shrine) add more resources on drops(to compensate for more heavy demons and more aggressive fodder) allow each weapon to have it's own keybinding, buff the plasma weapons(you literally do not need them) Ahzrak has a few attacks that damage the player before the hit lands so that needs fixed. Hopefully the DLC has more chapters like the last few where you have to platform and complete puzzles to proceed instead of just walk around. Obviously its too late to cut the dragon, but more focus on dog-fighting and less focus on staying completely still and dodging would be good. The last mech level was okay, maybe give us a few guns and let us play a watered down version of Armored Core instead of a watered down version of Super Punch Out. Kill the turret sections, if they were removed from the game right now, no one would notice.

Anyways, all in all it was a pretty bland experience with a few really low lows and few decently fun moments. It looks great, id tech 8 is pretty awesome, and the story makes no sense. See ya when the DLC drops lel

Solid 6. Which is still good if 5 is your average. ♥♥♥♥ music though and people need to get their ear checked if they find it good.
I wont get to hear that ♥♥♥♥ ass music because I've turned it off completely and it's so much more tolerable now. Chad Hackholder and the four talentless amateurs truly suck monkey balls.

I thought Andrew Hulshult had done a fantastic job with Doom Eternal's DLC. I have no idea why they didn't ask him back for Dark Ages.

The current OST is very mid, I think one of reviews online I saw said it best: It feels like a movie backing track, constantly just humming and buzzing but never quite reaching highs that actually gives adrenaline during big fights. That and the Parry system constantly kills the music.
I think your assessment is pretty good OP.

I agree that the upgrades and weaponization are low-points.

Yea, Hulshult and Levy both did a great job. I honestly expect one or both of them to be on this game and am super surprised that they are not. I wonder what happened.

Hey thanks. Yea, I feel like if the weapons were more unique that would give us a reason to use more than 2 of them, which would make the game a lot more fun. I the mastery challenges because I wanted to 100% the game, but in all honestly I would only use the SSG, Chainshot, and then rockets from time to time so I could heal myself while fighting.
