Bind shield throw to scroll wheel up
Since this game was clearly designed with a controller in mind (weird for a FPS) I had a tough time getting the controls to a point where I felt comfortable. I managed to get everything down but the shield throw which I just kept moving around and feeling awkward. I finally tried mouse scroll up since that seemed like an intuitive action...flick the wheel forward and throw the shield.

It works so good. I throw the shield without even thinking about it, which to me is a sign of good controls. I don't suppose it will work for everyone, but it works great for me. The only downside is that you can't use the slo-mo feature because you throw the shield as soon as you flick the wheel, but I kind of feel like thats a crutch I don't need so I don't use it anyway. No offense to any slo-mo fans, it just messes with my timing too much.

What do y'all think? Do you have any cool control tips? I know this isn't a nasty complaining troll post so it won't get much attention, just thought I'd share.

I'll try that and see how it feels
I don't use the slow motion from the shield throw either, but what I do use is the recall, which you do after the shield hits wall or target and you want to bring it back, you can press the button again to do so. If you've bound it to mouse wheel up, it's possible to recall it early since the chance of it getting more than one input is much higher than pressing a button, but given that it usually takes a full second for the shield to either get stuck in a heavy or hit something in the environment it is probably an outlier case. Mouse wheel up would probably work well for spamming it to chain stun a heavy up close, though.

I use EDSF for movement, so I've bound shield throw to R and that works for me.
Yeah recall is totally easy if you miss your mark or just want to rethrow. I do notice the delay but like you say I just roll the wheel while tracking the target until it throws again. I use mouse scroll down to switch sub-weapons which seems to work pretty well.

in Eternal I bound mousewheel up/down to Ballista/Super Shotgun for easy swapping, but this game didn't really benefit from that so I was kinda stuck until I tried the shield throw thing.
Gonna try that, I feel like the game was designed around Dualsense despite the fact it is a MS game and Xbox controllers are trash. I had to place them constantly because they develop stick drifting too quickly.
I was going through an Xbox controller every year and I had enough. I won't buy a Microsoft controller until they do some serious updates. I still like the form factor though so I went with a Gamesir G7 SE. Been using it for about a year and half and its awesome.

Not for DOOM though. I don't like to play first person games with a controller.
