Replayability?
So Eternal was extremely replayable but it looks like this game can be 100%'d in like 30 hours. Have you come back for more since completing?

I'm struggling to get through my first playthrough its just so bland and boring.....
It has about zero replayability unless you just like the combat. This game is fun, but there's just not enough of it to warrant it's price.
i managed to complete the game's campaign on nightmare before they released the patches that made the game harder. I've still yet to 100% the game gonna be harder to do so now with these patches that make the game harder but thats ok.

"Eternal was extremely replayable" is entirely subjective. At launch, I found it to be the very definition of a "one-and-done" game. I couldn't even finish my second playthrough because I was so bored of going through the same battles in the same order again, whereas with The Dark Ages I've already finished the game twice and am going through it a third time. What I like about The Dark Ages is how the levels are--at least on average--so much more 'freeform' and how you can mess around with all of the different sliders to sort of craft your own overall experience. Eternal had absolutely none of that. Nearly all of its levels were just move in a straight line, fight. Move in a straight line, fight. Rinse, repeat until the end. It barely even had keycard hunts FFS.

Another advantage The Dark Ages has over Eternal is that since it allows you to freely use whichever weapons you see fit, there's a good chance you'll leave numerous weapons untouched over the course of an entire playthrough, which means on subsequent playthroughs you can try using an entirely different arsenal to see how your experience differs. The first time around I rarely used the Shredder, Pulverizer, or Accelerator for example, whereas now I'm using them almost exclusively, and it's given me more of an appreciation for just how effective they can be under the right circumstances.

You're right about subjective though Eternal also had backtracking but not nearly as much as the insane amount Dark Ages apparently does...

just like Eternal, its extremely repayable especially when you get into the groove, i've been playing it a ton just as a stress reliever, just like Eternal, and just recently started trying nightmare to challenge myself, nice, quick, and snappy, lot of fun

Yeah, it isn't even close. The Dark Ages actually has proper nonlinear level design where you can choose your own path. The only time Eternal's base campaign had something remotely similar to that was on Urdak, where you were given a whopping two separate paths to choose. In The Dark Ages, you have large maps with ~4 objectives you can hit in literally any order, and so you aren't just taking the same exact route every single time. There's actually some variation each time you play. It reminds me a LOT of Doom 2016's Foundry and Argent Facility, both of which did the same thing (it still irks me to no end that they basically abandoned that design in Eternal).

Eternal was replayable because there was things to play around and experiment with. In this it feels like you can't do anything new or different. There just isn't enough flexibility and options. One weapon, parry same green attacks, shield throw on fodder, and your mobility is just a point and click enemy target charge.

EDIT
Just because you can choose to close the Oblivion portals in different order doesn't make it more replayable lol what's up with some people.

sounds like you need to experiment more
Yea Eternal is replayable now. But I think it took two DLCs, master level updates, horde mode and other stuff over time to get there. But yea I have 400 hours in Eternal and in Dark Ages I have 30 and I have 100%'d the campaign.

I think a multiplayer and a horde mode would do a lot for replayability. And the ultimate idea IMO is combining those two concepts and giving us a CO-OP Horde Mode. Then you can see yours and your friends skins / guns / dragons ettc.
i wasn't too keen on the game after my first nightmare run and i hadn't planned on coming back anytime soon, but i decided to fire it up again. i'm enjoying it much more this time around. it takes a while to kick the Eternal muscle memory and get comfy with the mechanics, but it's really satisfying once you do. i've yet to see if the skill ceiling is as high as Eternal, but there's things to learn on subsequent playthroughs. there's also a bunch of different weapons to try. exploring isn't really fun the second time through unfortunately.
I enjoyed the PVP in Eternal and what got me replaying Eternal was the free battle passes. I know Dark Ages doesn't have pvp but does it have free battle passes?
Yes, the game does lend itself to multiple playthroughs like the previous installments.

Well, the Berserker achievement was bugged for me so I'll have to play it again if I want to try my luck for a true 100%. The second chapter also undid a health upgrade from a boss; I remember getting 100% on it but after the patch it changed to 99% and replaying the level didn't correct it.

I didn't open the map more than once during my first playthrough, but I liked the game so much that I played it again from the beginning to really explore and I liked that just as much in a different way. Really well designed and cleverly multilayered secrets, some of them. Each map is complex yet intuitive and really fun to spend an hour or so going back and forth, making sure I got everything.

I've currently had my fill on Dark Ages, but the part I'm most excited to replay again sometime is the cosmic realm. Honestly I would love to play a full game of the underwater sections, that really creeped me out and I want more.
