I just can't find my groove in The Dark Ages
With 2016 and Eternal I got engrossed with the gameplay and mechanics and playing it felt like an extension of your consciousness. I would just enter a trance like state and the flow of combat would just click.

But in The Dark Ages especially the more open large arenas, I just can't seem to feel it... It feels...... messy for the lack of a better word, unstructured.

I'm not really feeling what the game wants me to do in the moment to moment. I feel like I'm just winging it and its just not satisfying.

This one is more like the originals, it wants you to shoot and look for pickups rather than kill for them. the exploration is more present here too, flow is different and nothing like Eternal, maybe tweak the sliders because thats what i did pretty much straight away after the first few levels in, made all the difference to combat.

Don't agree, I end up just circle strafing in one direction spamming melee, shield bash, and parry. I rarely go for pickups at all, I went for pick ups far more in 2016 and Eternal than I did here.

And I don't see any exploration, the game tells you where every thing is.

the game tells you where stuff is, but it doesn't tell you how to get there, there are usually environmental puzzles you need to solve first.

And the game just wants you to engage with the parry, shield throw, shield bash, melee and guns, thats all there is to it. There is no alt fire weapon switching any more, and no vertical acrobatics.

calling them puzzles is very generous
