DO YOU LIKE THE STORY?

I DO NOT - IT SEEMS LIKE ID IS ONCE AGAIN PUTTING ALL THE INTERESTING STUFF IN THE DLCS, WHICH WILL BE LOWER BUDGET AND INEVITABLY BE PLAYED BY LESS PEOPLE AND BE LESS EXCITING

This is something that bugged me in Eternal as well - in that game, iD put your big confrontation with the dark lord who's supposedly the CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE in part 2 of the ancient gods. The result was that the final confrontation with THE GUY WHO CREATED HELL ended up feeling low budget, with the boss battle being somehow lamer than a random throwaway monster in the main game (gladiator boss). Instead, you spend the main game fighting some random angel guys which weren't even mentioned afaik in doom 2016, and the big main villain is someone you've never met before or care about

Ffw to the dark ages, we know a lot about the general events - how the doom guy got his powers from samur to take down the dreadnought, how the sentinels will discover the maykrs working with hell guys in nekrovol, how the priests will go evil, how valen will help the maykrs because his son (marek or whatever his name is) will get tortured, and how the doom slayer will get trapped in the sarcophagus or whatever. WHY ISNT ANY OF THIS IN THE MAIN GAME (I assume that's where the dlc will go because where else would it). Instead we get completely random stuff in the story that nobody cares for, asked about, or that has anything to do with the previous games:

- instead of anything relating to the dark lord we get some CRUSTY* demon who wants a never mentioned before artifact and somehow kills doom guy and HIS DRAGON. if you introduce a whole giant plot twist about Vega being one type of god and there being another type of god in the dlc which not so many people played, would it not make sense to at least have something relating to this in the main story? Instead we get 5 levels of random Cthulhu stuff and a secondary never before heard villain (uzurwhatever the witch). So instead of acknowledging any of the existing crazy lore about THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE we get two literally who antagonists oh and Cthulhu is in doom now
- afaik there's never been any mention of azhrak in eternal - the only stuff that is mentioned about doom guys past with the sentinels was that he fought some dreadnought titan which I assume came before azrak, and how he arrived to them/how he ended up in the coffin in 2016
- there's now some wraith magic woman that again isn't ever discussed in any meaningful way. THEY KNEW THE ANCIENT GODS AND THE WRAITHS WOULD SHOW UP IN THIS GAME AND ADDED THEM TO TAG2 WHY COULDNT THEY ADD THEIRA THERE???
- there's a plot line about DOOM GUY DYING which is somehow made irrelevant to the rest of the story (since it's the only place you get the berserk power up are we supposed to assume that doom guy only got those powers from dying? what made him be able to get the one that makes him move fast or punch really hard? BEING SICK?)
- WHY ISNT TH} KHAN MAYKR in the main game??? Instead we get the big boned guy who's cool I guess but again he's not in eternal and the only acknowledgment of the khan maykr is that she disavows kreed according to valen and kreed yelling I WAS JUST FOLLOWING ORDERS. If you make a completely new villain in eternal, can't you acknowledge her in the next game, if you can't bring yourself to do that with the dark lord

The story was so weird, not because it didn't make sense or anything, but rather because you have all these characters that LOOK interresting, but say absolutely little to nothing, there is no personality, their lines are minimal and extremely generic, it had me scratching my head the entire time. Did the voice actors demand payment by the word or smth?
