As I'm sure it's already known I 100% finished Doom Eternal on a range of machines including Switch, along with Wolfenstein 2. This looked clearer, faster than I ever had on the Switch. But I'm struggling to find the point of this one. It's like how needless Fallout 4 was when 3 hit it's mark not long before. Wolf 2 was perfect after Wolf 1, just like Doom Eternal was perfect after 2016 (though the 180 flip from 'main character literally punching something to prevent any lore or story seeping through to players' to 'here is a giant backstory where heaven and hell are maybe the same blah blah'. That was unusual yet both styles fit both games flawlessly). So one can get sequels that don't feel blase and unnecessary. I mean the shield combat is really good but then they slipped in "heat up metal and then throw your shield" and other gameplay things that just don't fit. It's annoying. Maybe once they address the performance problems... so many people WITH raytracing-capable GPUs (technically SD is, but its just not fast enough) had problems with this engine.
They even had to add an apology in the launcher! I've never seen a game do that before! When I first played it the second it came out it ran perfectly on my little Deck. In fixing stuff they're breaking it for others. What a fall from grace for id.
