Yeah, the game starts hitting it's stride after the first mech and dragon missions imo. It really does have a slow-start compared to previous games. Hope they'll do master-levels like in Eternal.
Also looking forward to that update where you adjust the parry/melee slow-mo. Right now the only way to disable it is through a mod.

master levels would be awesome, my biggest issue with the game was the weapon switching being a death sentence beat the game on ultra violence so not the hardest difficulty but it felt like weapon switching would get me killed every time lol. also the rocket launcher with cannibalism is op af.

For me, Dark Ages is the perfect balance between 2016 & Eternal, also, that accessibility slider setting is marvelous.

Yeah, the weapon switch insanity from Eternal is definitely toned down. More "patience" is more required for TDA's gameplay. Kinda like classic doom in a way. You can't really do "combo" attacks like in Eternal.
Other than the slow-mo adjustment, I really hope they add in the ability to switch to different areas of the map, like in later updates of Eternal, so you can go hunting for secrets easily. It's odd they forgot to add this into the game, especially the maps in TDA being a lot larger than Eternal's. They weren't lying when they wanted to bring back some elements from the classic game in terms of map design and exploring, but I feel like they went overboard there.
Oh well, I still had a blast. Personally I'd rank it around the same level as Doom2016. Eternal is still the best for me, especially with it's more high-octane action. Finished on Nightmare. Currently finishing up some stuff that I missed in previous chapters.

I do find it ironic that they gave us the largest arsenal of weapons out of any of the games, and then designed the game around not switching your weapons too often. Odd choice
