If you accept this pricing...
... I hate you :-P But that's beside the point. Let me list what you accept

- Base games of AAA titles will cost 80€ throughout plus DLCs 30€s minimum. So all in all over 100€s
- Prices will eventually rise again
- Further anti-customer nonsense like Advanced Access, multiple season passes(Who even guarantees they include all DLC in Dooms SP?), Preorder "bonuses", etc.
- Indie titles and budget titles will be around 40 to 50€ which in my recollection is considered full price until just a year ago.
- you "buy" a game for 100€+ which you then don't even really own. Since things you own, you can also sell.

I'm really wondering at what point people will stop accepting this trend.

Though I did find it funny that Nintendo got such a backlash for doing exactly the same as the whole rest of the industry.

It's so f*king inconsistent what nonsense "gamers" just accept as if there was any justification for it (Advanced access) and what nonsense is then the big scandal.

I am not privileged at all, I just don't have massive debts, have no loans. I do have rent to pay. It is not having a lot of overhead that allows for my habits. I am not rich, and even now would be considered broke. I just know what I want and how to get it is all.

Simp's bro... Simp's simp, simple.
Green Man Gaming[en.wikipedia.org] has steam keys 17% off which makes base game $58 USD. In my opinion it's definitely worth it at that price.

The industry sets the pricing. We do this every single time something "expensive" comes out. Whether it's new GPUs or new games. It's always, "If everyone would just not buy it, they'll lower the price." It never happens.
Gearbox is seriously floating the idea of charging $80 for Borderlands 4 lmfao. We're already at $70-$80 games.

BL4 will be a flop because of the steam forum drama so it’s doesn’t matter how much they charge because it’s going to sell badly.
there is no limit for paypigs, fkin mario for 80...they would pay 120 too

Honestly after how disappointing BL3 was I can't imagine BL4 will be nearly as much of a smash hit, but some people will pay for literally anything so who knows atp
I like this game and can recommend it.

However, the price is high. And ok, times are hard for both gamers and developers, publishers are setting prices, costs are high and a negotiation has to happen, is happening, over price points which WILL rise. We all, if we're being realistic, know this.

For this reason gamers that push back on high prices are, even if you disagree, doing ALL GAMERS A GOOD TURN. You don't want to enter into a negotiation meekly with nobody on your side digging their heels in. If nobody pushes back, there will be no compromise and no quarter from the other side in the negotiation.

For this reason if for no other, it is better to support and amplify push-back even if you would be ok with a price rise. Make no mistake, the people taking the money are making strategic and tactical decisions to get as much as they can. As gamers. this is not the time to TK.

Too late. I'm going to buy Dune Awakening and Stellar Blade at their current standing pricing; the maxxx editions at their maxxx pricing.

Cool to the MAXXX
It is the climaxxx you want!

I think Microsoft see this as win / win for them. They want more subscribers on GamePass. So if people want to play but dont want to pay the elevated price many will go to game pass. So it drives customer acquisition from them and gets people of Steam and using gamepass.

If people are willing to pay the price it increases profit per unit sold and they can start normalising the higher price point.

Either way it helps their strategic positions in the market.

Converted to USD (from Swiss Francs), they want me to pay $96.43 for the standard version, $138.78 for the premium edition - even as a true Doom fanatic since '93, I still say: No. Go away greedy bastards. I'm waiting patiently for a sale.

I paid 80 dollars for Chrono Trigger when it was released for Super Nintendo. That was month of me cutting grass in the neighborhood while in JR High if anything games have been artificially cheap for too long compared to Inflation. Just go see how much it cost to buy a starter home today. It cost money to make these games and higher the developers to make them. To me it sounds you are advocating for AI games instead of games made by actual Humans.

I also had chrono trigger. It may have cost 80€ back then, but. .. You know what? I sold it for I think 200-300 € a few years ago in original boxing and so on.

Good luck trying that with this Game.

Sure making games gets more expensive, but you are buying games that you don't even own and I feel like people gotten completely ignorant to that...

And there is no justification for nonsense like advanced access. They are just testing the boundaries of what people accept and imo gamers accept way way too much.
