Quake 5: Does TDA Make It More Or Less Likely?
The Quake Vibe in this DOOM: The Dark Ages is pretty overt. Do you think this could act like a primer opening the door for a Quake 5? Or will it do the opposite, like "Well, this is Quake enough that making a straight up sequel would be redundant."

I have been longing for a proper Quake sequel since before Quake 4, and Quake 4 didn't fit the bill. I'd LOVE to see a new quake on this engine. Anyone else? Think it will ever happen?

Full Disclosure I prefer Quake 2 to OG Quake (unpopular opinion, I know) but I still love Q1. Q2 is on my gaming Mt. Rushmore (with Doom, coincidentally)

Anyway, what do you think? Will this lead to some Quake action??

Sadly I think it makes it less likely. Only because if they are already doing a similar aesthetic with this game, why would they turn around and do a similar game with Quake? Will likely dilute the uniqueness.

Supposedly TDA started out as a Quake reboot too, but who knows if that's true.

I prefer Quake 2 as well though, would love a modern reboot.

Less likely, because Microsoft will reestructure id Software to be more cost-effective, which means a smaller studio. Thus, no Quake 5, or 6, anymore.
Last Hope is Machinegames making a Quake game.

I had not heard that this started as a Quake reboot, but that makes a LOT of sense.

Swap the Slayer for Scalebearer & Commander Thira for Galena...

It makes it less likely to happen.
The way the industry works is that since games cost around $100M USD there is no incentive to be creative or experimental. What usually happens is that the studios are kept around (not necessarily the talent in them) working on the same IP as the publisher pushes anti-consumer practices that only get more aggressive per entry.

So Id Studios will do Doom until it is no longer profitable or finds an "audience" of people who are willing to put up with the abuse similar to Call of Duty, Star Wars and FIFA.
