*SPOILERS* Question about the story

So Doomguy dies, and then breaks out of Limbo/Purgatory on the the ferry. My question is what is the ritual that the Night Sentinels for? They couldn't have known Doomguy would break out of Purgatory.. I know the end result of the ritual as it fully brings him back.. I guess my better question is would Doomguy even need to break out of purgatory if they were just gonna summon him back anyways???

My guess is that without the ritual he would been stuck wandering in the endless ghost forest where the Slayer rune appeared.

Right... and since time doesn't work the same way in Hell... timey wimey.. I suppose the moment Doomguy breaks out doesn't have to align with the moment they do the ritual... okay I got it now!!!!

At the beginning of the level your suit tells you theres a beacon coming from the mortal realm, so the Sentinels started the ritual and the Slayer finished it.

I suppose he could have come out of hell as a zombie, but then they would have to explain why he looks normal in Eternal lol

The timeline is The Dark Ages -> 2016 -> Eternal

Its a joke of a story, they do not explain any of it. Here's more of big plot holes and stupid writing.

Why does the Kreed Maykr does not warn the stupid wannabe Cthulu about Tether breaking their heads apart ?

Why does a silly Mech beat the snot out of a wannabe cthulu boss ?

Why and How does Thira get this Wraith BS in her, off screen. Why do we never get any explanation of this story in D 2016 or Eternal ? hint - Retcon. MCU class type story telling from the great Hugo Fartin.

Better play God of War III you will go to Hell and Fight Hades himself and a lot of repercussions for everything you do unlike this clown fiesta.

the cthulu was bound to Hell, it wasn't fully powered and it was Hell's slave essentially. That's my guess as to why it wasn't 'godlike'
