Am I the only one noticing this game severly lacks polish?
This isn't a post to ♥♥♥♥ on the game. I enjoy it. It's my least favorite of the last 2 Dooms, but I still have had a good amount of fun. I've been playing on game pass as well for anyone who sees I don't currently own the game. My main issue is the combat, more so the parry system. I've lost track of the amount of times I've taken damage even though I've parried the attack. I am playing Nightmare at 150% speed, Idk why this would affect that, but it's worth mentioning. The amount of tracking projectiles, enemies spawning on top of me, and just how weird the parry system can be is making me like this game less and less. To me it either seems like the devs got full of themselves and thought they could no wrong, or that Microsoft rushed this one out. Am I the only one noticing this game's quality is severely lacking compared to the previous 2?

The parry system ruined the flow of combat for me. I'm sitting there waiting to right click a green-floating cross/orb as fodder enemies are chipping away my HP from the side. It felt as if I've lost control of engagements and am waiting to engage in a dance-off with the bigger enemies. The issue seems to only get worse as the game goes on from what I've seen so I just got a refund instead.

100% I'm on chapter 18, and the amount of b.s. is driving me crazy. Mind you I'm not just trying to beat in on Nightmare. I make clips for fun and trying to do this no damage seems impossible. There's so much I can rant about, and while I still enjoy the game, it seems like they fell asleep at the while. Also, why they got rid of quick swapping in a game where they nerfed the movement is beyond my comprehension. You lose your shield and still take damage from blocking, and some projectiles are unavoidable do to amount happening at once. The skill of mastering quick swapping for a higher dps seems like a logical necessity in this game. It mitigates these issues as you just have to be more aggressive. It's a mechanic that seems like it would be more relevant now than ever in Doom. Don't get me started on the key binds. It's crazy you can only have key binds for weapon classes and not each version.

It does felt like it lacked polish, I dont think for the same reasons you're citing OP. I think that could* a end-user issue if parries aren't registering. But the main thing I thought was unpolished....

spoilers !!!!
the ending...was a let down and felt rushed, you fight Cthulhu, super easy fight, 2 seconds later the last boss (Azrhak?) and then next level you fight last boss again with an ad and that 2nd version of the fight is easier than the first and you just kick him to the ground like a normal enemy instead of having any cool in-game execution. Instead its in a cutscene.

Still liked the game but we need better than this for Doom.

Yeah plus the slow-motion effect for parrying, and color coded projectiles 🤮. Can't believe this is what they came up with.
I haven't had any issues with parrying or taking damage from attacks that should have been blocked at all.
Out of all the Dooms, this game I have encountered the most bugs/glitches. This is a tinfoil hat opinion, but to me I have the feeling there was a lot of crunch in the production of this game. The game feels ambitious with the amount of levels it has, but the game is more empty, content wise than Eternal. Its such a drastic comparison between the two games. Also playing this game on higher difficulties is an actual nightmare, with the amount of projectiles and the sheer amount of enemies this game throws at me. Even the amount of boss like enemies that spawn as the missions progress gets really tiresome.

The shield just kind of feels worse in every-way than just a simple dodge or double jump to me, it honestly kinda baffles me there's no double jump, the game feels off without it. It kinda screws up the flow of the combat, instead of constantly dipping and dodging around I'm just running in circles around an enemy waiting for them to cast the their parry attack, sometimes I don't even have to move I can just stand in front of them and wait like with the Cyber-demon.

You still have the super jump from sprinting which sends you high enough that you create shockwaves when you land.

Good idea to keep auto run turned on for that reason.
