What did they do the the Cacodemon?!
I gotta say, the rest of the demons look good, even great... but they messed up the Cacodemon. He's my favorite little demon, and now he's just a floating brain like in Doom3. Tell me I'm not only one that feels this way.

It's the Octobrain's long lost brother.
They look like that because they've been corrupted by the Witch/cosmic realm. Same for the Baron.

But he's supposed to be a red, meatball dude with little spindly arms.... not a floating brain!

Don't worry, he usually is. But the cosmic realm have tampered with the perfect design, so go make em pay

It's true, but at least he's still pink.... but yeah. Pinkie doesn't need a rider, but I love his elongated tail <3

i mean, this one works. its somewhat similar to doom 3's caco, and john carmack sees doom 3 as an ideal representation of the series... so it aint that bad or anything
It's not meant to be the OG meatball and that's fine. They still frustrate me either way.

yea when I first saw them in this game I thought of the brains from "FUTURAMA" which are literally nothing more, nothing less, a floating/flying brain

point being, the cacodemon resembles NOTHING like any of its previous iterations. it seems like this one demon did go off the rails in designing something that was more obvious to long time DOOM franchise fans

on the pinky, it is still very recognizable even with an enemy now riding and the combat mechanics surrounding pinkies are very familiar too.

cacodemon has literally no features at all. doesn't bite you. spit at you, etc. it's a floating mass. their attacks aren't even familiar. cacodemon was a swing and a miss relatively speaking how all the other returning enemies are way more familiar but with their newest twist

john carmack was also the brains behind the code, not the gameplay mechanics. if there is any truth to that comment that he thinks 3 is the ideal rep of DOOM, then, I say thank f'en god he isn't part of the franchise anymore lol. that's like ed boon saying MK4 is the ideal representation of a MK game lulz they are both one of the most divisive in their series for a reason

Cacodemon received here the worst design ever of the history of Doom franchise!

the cosmic baron resembles virtually nothing of the regular baron, which is usually a blood-red, goat-hooved, man-like creature rather than a big pillar of stone with guillotine hands.

this cacodemon is very similar to the doom 3 caco, which is a doom game just like the rest, whether you like it or not.

this one also does bite you, and it spits at you. and yes, this one is a floating mass, just like all the other ones. not sure what point youre making.

if you wanna ignore the OG dev's views of the enemies of doom, sure bud go ahead i dont care too much. but ultimately the cacodemon has always been a floating glob of meat that spits purple ♥♥♥♥ at you, and guess what, thats what this one does.

did you people ***really*** want a red plasma spitting meatball... for the FIFTH time?? (not even including games like final doom btw). The caco in eternal was practically a copy+paste of 2016's which was an updated version of doom 93's caco which was also copy+paste'd into doom 2. Its been the exact same for 25+ years, save in doom 64 and 3. id purposefully made enemies like the caco, revenant and cyberdemon significantly different because guess what, you cant just copy demons over time and time again. Yes, this current cacodemon is pretty fkn annoying but at least its something NEW. so frustrating that so many people are so scared to do new things. people like you are mad that they didnt make 'DOOM: Eternal II: Electric Boogaloo' and instead made The Dark Ages.
Who cares, they all die the same anyway.

Nah these ones are actually a threat unlike the grenade fodder that was in Eternal.
