Why is the gameplay bad?

Why am I being charged 70$ for a glorified walking simulator? I THOUGHT I bought a Doom game. but the guns in it are so garbage that the ONLY effective way to deal with anything is with the shield or to punch it.
SO it's a game about walking up to the next enemy and "E"ing it to death. It's crystal clear, with 4 melee weapons, I'm supposed to beat everything off. With guns shooting cotton candy for all the impact they have... I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT ID WAS WORKING ON DEATH STANDING 3!!!

sure the game looks great... but is it fun.... imo, no. it's not

I probably will, but having been a fan of doom for longer than you been alive, I am sad to see the franchise leave the running and gunning that made it what it is, behind.

Can’t people just watch a few gameplay videos before buying a game ? What’s the hurry to be one of the first to buy a game ? Try to refund it if you still can.

I agree, was pretty excited for this one and I thought the gameplay looked sweet. But I got about an hour in realizing I wasn't really having fun so I refunded. Might pick it up on sale down the road some day.

I get where you're coming from but this is the third iteration in the new series. It hasn't been completely run and gun in any of them. Their vision is a mix of melee and shooting and TDA doesn't change that.

Right, because an auto targeting melee system has been apart of shooters since DOOM in 1993.

I respect that, I disagree though. A glory kill was optional in Eternal and actively a trap in 2016 on ultra nightmare, they often too slow compared to simply shooting the thing again.
Maybe it's inexperience with this system, but I feel that that the only way to get kills is to engage in melee. And as someone that enjoys the gun play... using the right weapon for the right situation... I feel like all my tools have been taken from me. but again that's what I've experienced.

Cause I've been playing DOOM since I was 4, and WANTED this to be a good game. It looks like a game I'd enjoy from the footage.... but appearances can be deceiving, I probably will try to refund it.... Pick it up when it's less than $20
