After launch, only sound plays

I was able to get around this by setting my launch parameters to this: +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +r_mode -1 +r_customWidth 1280 +r_customHeight 720 +r_fullscreen 0

I had same issue as well, hopefully someone posted a fix for it, it worked for me, here the copy of their fix:

If you just hear the game intro audio but the game window isn’t opening, try this:
Go to steam and right click Doom The Dark Ages, click Properties then type this into the launch options: “+com_skipIntroVideo 1 +r_mode -1 +r_customWidth 1280 +r_customHeight 720 +r_fullscreen 0”

Then you can adjust the video settings to see it properly, close the game, cancel the launch options and open it again.

Hey a couple of us ran into this issue last night. Quick fix for us was search Nvidia Control Panel > 3D Setting > Restore.

Hope it works !

I had the issue with sound but no video and reinstalled NVidia Drive and chose Custom install and checked off the "Clean install". Rebooted after that and now it starts normal.

This fix worked for me, thanks for helping me play IT for id software. Bought the game 2 hours before launch to preload, spent 6 hours troubleshooting after the game launched

MAKE SURE TO APPLY. This should work. Did it for me.
