STEAMDECK is OK !
You can run Doom Dark Ages on Steamdeck and it is wery nice.
You need to install SteamOS 3.7.6 Preview: It Runs DOOM
You have to set in system SteamOs preview before to run DOOM.

what about regular linux on ubuntu/debian distros?

I noticed that the steam deck graphical settings seems to save to the profile in the cloud, because when I booted up the game on my PC, all the resolution and quality settings came up for the Steam Deck. This is the first time I have ever had cloud saves carry along my device specific video settings.
