Doom the dark ages is fine.
Honestly nothing super crazy. It's an entertaining game but it isn't blowing my socks off like Eternal had. I only have 5 hours on the game so things could change. I will say I have noticed that difficulty is significantly easier than any Doom game I had played. I know people will say that I can adjust the difficulty but I honestly CBA to fine tune stuff just to make the game feel fun and challenging.

The game is fine but no Eternal, which would also be fine, the price is the thing that isn't fine.
Well said, only those who can't play say it sucks.

game runs fine for me, normally getting around 110-90fps on my 3070RTX card. Still playable, and very fun :)

However, there are some issues such as game music being too quiet on some levels and one boss enemy bugged out, shooting at a wall near me (It fixed itself when I shot at it, so its not a nit-picky thing). Dialogue is too quiet, sometimes unnoticed in some levels.

Still a few things they need to tweak, but other that, the game runs perfectly fine :)

Consider this: for nearly two decades, the gaming industry has largely avoided the kind of price hikes that other forms of entertainment have regularly implemented. Yet, some still argue it's unfair for developers to raise prices now, despite the escalating costs of game production.

For a bit of perspective, look at the budgets for AAA game development over the past 25 years. Half-Life 2, released in 2004, had a budget of about $67 million. In contrast, Cyberpunk 2077 had a budget exceeding $500 million. Yet, the retail price difference was just $10 — Half-Life 2 sold for around $50, while Cyberpunk launched at $60. That's a $10 increase for a game made with roughly $450 million more in resources.

Now, factor in inflation and the rising costs across other forms of entertainment. In 2000, a single-day ticket to Disneyland cost $33. By 2020, that same ticket had jumped to $135. Movies, concerts, and toys have all seen similar increases.

If game prices had kept pace with these trends, we'd likely be paying well over $150 for major releases today.

So, before you start complaining about a $70, $80 price tag, consider the scale, talent, and years of effort that go into these massive projects. If anything, we're still getting a pretty good deal.

Considering its a very high quality game that just released today, I think the price is completely justified. If people don't want to spend any money on it, that's fine. If they want to buy it on a sale, go ahead!
I'm a pretty hardcore fan when it comes to playing DOOM, so I set some money aside to pre-order the premium edition because I know that ID can make amazing games.
No hate on anyone who doesn't buy the game, you can buy it whenever you like, however you like. Whether it's on sale or not.
Pricing at $70$ is whatever; I do think $60$ would have been fine for devs, and $70$ is enough of a change, but $80$ is slightly pushing it, especially in no time. A 25% increase in price is pretty crazy when there have been strides to make development cheaper, and inflation hasn't increased as fast as game prices. At the end of the day I can't care, because my suggestions don't matter to companies or to other people.

I just beat the first chapter(100% ed it), it's not just fine it is amazing :P6: Can easily say it is 100% worth it and I already love it more than Eternal and it's easily my favourite Doom since the last two new ones which I both really loved.

The levels layouts do not feel so constrained / claustrophobic 24/7 and like I am a Lamborghini trying to go full speed in school zone that is only 500 meters long and then I have to constantly turn around. The extra room and freedom / level design fixed what bothered me in Eternal.

I love The Dark Ages it owns

So far I like it a lot. I picked Nightmare as first play through so the difficulty for me is perfect. Single zombie bite drains 50hp or something.

Eternal got also shat on by 2016 fans, saying Eternal is too arcade/too spazz/too fast etc. Now it's the same song and dance with this game.

I like that iD has done something different this time, I had enough of Eternal's quickswitch simulator.... as someone who abuses quickswitch in so many games.
Yea, so far it's okay. It's fun. DE is waaaaay more fun and it looks better but overall I'm happy with TDA. The fact that there was turret section at the end of the 1st chapter had me worried that this was gunna be a generic ass shooter from 2005. It's as if Hugo wanted to drop my expectations through the floor in order to then surpass them.

It was obvious they were going to address the difficulty after the backlash from Eternal. At least they provided enough options to make it as difficult as you'd like.

There was backlash from Eternal's difficulty? I thought Nightmare had a good difficulty to it but Ultra-Violence wasn't very hard at all. My wife just recently played through DE in Ultra-Violence and she thinks it is fun and not all that difficult.

Base game eternal wasn’t hard. And it was never the game mechanics that made it hard either. There was nothing particularly difficult about using the same precision bolt combo for 90% of the game. What was “hard” was the sadistic level design of the DLC.

the issue comes from greed, these companies could pay their devs fairly, but they want to profits all for themselves, so instead of sacrificing their infinite dragons hoard of money they up the price for the consumer to cover both.
i bet you don't even own the sh!thole you're living in , and eat trash food all day of your life.
But HEY you get to play an overpriced game 2 days early so everything is fine !

100$ is overpriced but he is talking about owning property. The irony and degeneracy is insane. Bro thought he was cooking when he made it obvious that he's got nothing better to do in his life other than go out of his way in the day on a forum for a game he doesn't own and ♥♥♥♥ talk. Absolute silly goose goofball.
