Removing "Ray Tracing" Restrictions /
Graphics Card Model: RX 5700 XT (meets all other requirements)
Issue: Blocked by the "Ray Tracing" option.
We hope to remove this restriction, as there are still many gamers using mid-to-low-end graphics cards in the market.
(This reflects the needs of players who want to bypass hardware limitations for better accessibility.)

-------

If you examine the comments carefully, you'll find: those who enjoy mocking low-spec players reveal a disturbing deficit of empathy.

-------

I bought a Radeon 6600 card about a year and a half ago. It is capable of pushing very impressive graphics. It can run Helldivers 2 at high settings at a near-consistent 60fps at the most intense moments. It can run Doom Eternal on Ultra Nightmare at over 200 fps.

I totally get the benefits of ray tracing, but the absolute requirement is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I'm lukewarm about the game as it is and I definitely won't be dropping 2 months worth of rent on a new GPU + the game on something I know I'll like but won't love.

If the restriction still cannot be removed after the official release, the only temporary solution would be to refund and watch others play.

Raytracing is required for this game.

"Pretty graphics are nice, but what really makes id games awesome is buttery-smooth carnage — and you don't need RTX for that!

The only game currently on the entire Planet that requires Ray Tracing, every single other game that has that feature, also has this nifty other thing in the options that allows you to turn it off, allowing for lower end pcs to enjoy the game they've been looking forward too.

While excellent visuals are important, consideration should be given to players with mid-to-low-end hardware who care more about the essence of id Software games — the exhilarating combat. And this very essence isn't something ray tracing can deliver.

It is clearly stated on the minimum requirements of the game...

Graphics: NVIDIA or AMD hardware Raytracing-capable GPU with 8GB dedicated VRAM or better (examples: NVIDIA RTX 2060 SUPER or better, AMD RX 6600 or better)
You should just refund for now.
They most likely won't be removing RTX requirement for this game, but there is also a high chance for mods to appear later which will force remove rtx from the game engine

I understand your stance, but you shouldn't make decisions on behalf of players. Don't mid-to-low end users deserve the right to adjust graphical settings freely?

This really hurts. As a longtime DOOM fan, this mandatory requirement will drive away so many mid-to-low end PC players from the franchise.

I didn't decide anything. They built the engine to require it. There is no working around that.

No offense dude! Just sucks that my potato PC can't run it. Have fun with those demons!

Yeah it's a bummer man. Bad design choice on their part.

Both Indiana Jones and Final Fantasy Rebirth require RTX enabled GPUs as a minimum requirement.

As if you understand the technical requirements of AAA game development with this engine to make this type of an argument. How much $ do you think it cost these developers to create this game?

Only a fool would think that the devs really wouldn't have preferred to make more profit from a wider audience. It was likely a difficult decision but I am so glad they decided to not make this game less than what it is. I paid for a nice PC and I'm glad that I finally have a new AAA game that can make use of it.

Everyone who can't run it needs to wake up and realize they either need to update their PC's or move to console until they can afford a modern, capable rig.

Ever since id Software's founding days, I've followed their games closely. I'm not viewing this through your lens, and you shouldn't presume to speak for me...

I'm not just an id fan – I'm also a developer myself. But I believe the power to adjust settings should always belong to the players. That's their fundamental right.

id's technical prowess doesn't need to be proven by sacrificing the experience of mid-to-low end PC players...
