Tech 8 should blow our minds but from my first impressions it doesn't at all(graphically on Ultra). I am going to play more in a few minutes but it is not like it is all of a sudden going to look different. I am going to try Ultra Nightmare visuals(the MAX setting) but I bet that is just RT+ or path tracing and it will kill my 7900 XTX, still I want to see if everything was invested in that mode.
Also why are the weapons so big and fill up all your view, can't they scale the FOV like other games or add a slider it looks off as well.
Anyways "the visuals look off to you" is the first thing I thought of when I dropped in.
But yeah I turned of DOF, motion blur, chromatic, film grain and none of that helped, it's cool that they have the toggles though.
The difficulty on hurt me plenty is like for a baby too, I guess they really took the feedback from Eternal to heart LOL.
I will say this the sound is really awesome on Atmos system
To be continued I guess, but as of now it has been a really odd 1st impression.
Add: note, I have to play at 3200 x 1800 to get 60FPS on Ultra on a 7900 XTX
100% this, the whole "whole game looks washed out and flat for some reason " is exactly how it looks as well to me. I want to blame upsacling but I think it is more than that, there are other games with upscaling that don't have that issue.
- set game to Ultra Nightmare highest setting and set shadows to Ultra
- set upscaling to FSR and native AA mode
- set sharpening to 40%
- set resolution to 3800 x 1800 you will get 60FPS ez on MAX (I did not try MAX shadows as well btw)
- turn off: DOF, motion blur, chromatic, film grain
Also keep playing the start area is weird it gets better.
One other thing I did was shut down Steam, turn it back on re check file integrity of the game and then re boot and then applied these settings. Also make sure you accept the new settings or it will revert.
Anyways I am 98% satisfied now, if they can add no upscaling, disable AA, plus FOV independent for weapons it will be perfect.
Most important thing, gameplay feels amazing they did a really good job it feels so smooth!
I don't known what to say other than maybe the graphic settings didn't take or there was something weird. Also after the reboot of Steam I got way better FPS too.
Hope that helps, I have zero regrets on the early access, so far 100% worth it, will play more after dinner.
* Important * One other thing I noticed, the game does not close unless you kill Steam, no idea why. So make sure you kill Steam before you apply the new settings or it might not take the MAX settings not look good.
Facts
Thanks for this! This definitely improved it a lot and you are correct that the beginning area if a little off. I was going to stop playing bc the game looked so washed. im on a 7900xt. Im sure in Adrenaline things can be tweaked even more but it looks great now. Indiana Jones game also looked washed but I attributed that to them wanting a retro look. But I guess this is a bethesda thing
