Ignore The 8-Core CPU System Requirement For Now, It's Probably Wrong
Before you panic-buy an 8-core CPU for potentially hundreds of dollars understand that it's probably not necessary.

Take note of how both Doom Eternal and Indiana Jones also recommend a completely overkill 8-core CPU in their system requirements despite them running great on 6, 4, and even 2-core CPUs in Doom Eternals case, without any performance issues that you would expect from not having enough cores.

My guess as to how this happened is maybe someone who didn't know better was looking for what they should enter for the minimum system requirement on the steam page and settled on the Ryzen 7 3700X after googling what was most similar to the consoles since that's the common comparison. (Which isn't even true since the consoles processors are more similar to slower more efficient laptop processors.)

OK good advice. I have an ancient I7-8700k that's 6 core and I'll give it a shot before heading to Microcenter (which I was going to do this weekend, lol).

The 8700K may be ancient but it's still a beast that can hit 5GHz, definitely give it a go, 144FPS+ is probably not going to be an issue.

I have a 8700k too and played all recent games no problem at all. Indy, Oblivion remastered etc. I have had it for 7 years... But it's still going strong! I'll upgrade when it finally becomes and issue.... Embrace frame gen 😁
