is this DOOM or Serious sam?
what happened after doom3?

doom 3 was dark, creepy, with a nice atmosphere. nice shadow /light plays..
the dooms after feel like a jump&run serious sam style shooter.

i cant stand what they have done to these series.

Doom 3 was actually the wrong way to go. Im not saying it was a bad game, but that horror-thing just didnt work for it. The Fans want more or less fast paced gameplay and tons of action.
Its not serious sam but this is some serious bait
Doomius Sam

I love Doom 3 but this new trilogy is definitely the way to go for the series.

Actually I thought Doom3 was a bad game, the story and atmosphere work for me but the standard set peace ambushes where incredibly predictable and tedious.

Oh a light is flickering, oh what a shock another enemy just appeared out of no where behind me.

Got old fast. Doom is better as an in your face fast paced FPS.

I loved 3. But I'm also a big fan of horror in general.

I think the only bad thing was that it had zero replayability. Almost all encounters were scripted. It was like a ghost train that you visited once and then never again.

There are certain enemies at a certain beach that made me think of SS.

Doom 64 is probably the best route to take IMO. A lot of people only remember E1M1 Hangar or slaughterwad maps, but Doom actually had a lot of dark ambiance mixed in with action, paced well between action and tense exploration. I think the series would have been better served learning to make a faster Doom 3-esque game to keep the darker elements but up the pace a bit. The level design in the newer games is pretty rough too, since it's mostly just deathmatch styled arenas; I'd say it is closer to Serious Sam or Painkiller these days than Doom. That could be good or bad depending on what you like, but for me it doesn't feel as "Doom."
