How strange. I had this game pre-ordered and I got to play it early Tuesday morning and one of the first things I noticed was an abominable black level raise which completely ruined the HDR presentation.
Fast forward to early Wednesday, I noticed that there was a small update, around 260MB. I didn't play the game again until the afternoon but when I tried it again with HDR enabled, I noticed that it was now working great.
This is without any workarounds or hacks. The only other thing I can think of was the Tuesday Windows update that may have fixed something, but that's just pure speculation.
I'll try native HDR again
Going back to SpecialK for HDR
If you want to use what i think is the best option for HDR look up Specialk App.
I JUST setup Special K for the first time. The game looks VERY different, not sure if I like it or not, or if this is how it's supposed to look. Def looks more like eternal, colors are punchier and the black level floor is way lower. Can I ask if youre using HDR 10 or scRGG HDR? I read in the setup guide for Special K, they recommend using HDR10 for setups using frame gen (which I am) but this makes my game crash.
Also, it feels like there's more input latency with Special K?
Doesnt Work :( U can activate IT, and if u Check ur settinge ingame it is Missing. Rly disappointet
dang man, youre right. special K kicks ass. been using it for an hour or so, and yea, looks great.
Comparing the two, Auto HDR is much brighter and less moody than the native implementation, but that could be because of how I configured the HDR settings in the game. I prefer a more contrast oriented look rather than an overly bright one.
With Auto HDR, the HDR configuration in the game is not available so you only have gamma and the Windows HDR calibration tool.
Yeah, specialK is still best option for me, i have been keeping a lookout for an official or other fix but for now it's still the best.
