Absolute slop
Holy prophet Jonah swallowed by a fish and spat out like a bytch at God's wish what an absolute piece of cowdung of a release

80 mother🦆ing dollars for the base game and another 30 dollars for the delusheeee stuff like an artbook and a soundtrack which are already available for free with a Google search

CERN Particle Accelerator rig requirements despite the game looking barely any different from either eternal or the 2016 game (more to the prior)

The garbo kiddy level design, stopping in the middle of a room to look for puzzles go there do that hit that flip a switch switch a flip jump down and up and down again and rotate the valve so next mcguffin can happen, someone put this perfectly, it's basically i spy + unity project techno-puzzle

Classic Doom formula of quick visceral combat in close quarters with food enemy placement? Fk that it's blatantly obvious this was meant to be a quake game. Everything about it lines up with the original pitch as well as game design/philosophy

And the art style the motifs the atmosphere all flushed out the window

The mandatory souls-like overlay (at this point you might as well just have Doomguy hide behind boxes and shoot/go for sneak kills like in 98% of game released since TLOU), the neon, kiddy like it was made in mind with boda-boda-badum-bffff phonk songs with Porto-Spaniard high pitched gibberish playing along

This ain't hell man, this is Gummi Bear adventures meets Tron

No atmosphere no gore just autistic ADHD fortnite slop

All Christians motifs have been reduced to but a passing resemblance, cobbled together with resentment and delusion. It was cool to have biblical demons in a sci fi setting but now they're just stock MCU alien monsters and hell is just another alternate "dark dimension" that looks fit to throw a rave party in instead of a place of suffering, fire and brimstone.

Oh and how about some more MCU-sludge. The cookie cutter fake edgy dialogue, the flat girlboss with Costco lipstick

I could go on an on. This was a game meant to be played only by mouth breathing streamers and rich kids with ADHD

If you're trying to defend this in any capacity i am very very sorry for you and very sorry for your dog-utility level of upbringing

It's not a good game, let alone a good Doom game (heck it's hardly a doom game at all lmao)

Hi Steve
Levels are pretty good, dont know what youre talking about.
I think you people live in a Reddit/4chan Woke/antiwoke kind of bubble and cant formulate original opinions. every post on this forum is just current buzzword soup.

the only thing dark ages does worse than eternal is the music.
Euros, not dollars, my failed troll minion.
Quake design was a lot more engaging, even with a low enemy count.
Arcane Dimensions is a better game than Dark Ages.
I still like the shield.

The levels are really simple, again, play Arcane Dimensions
It is free, once have your horizons expanded you will notice how much DA sucks.

Next, well, Theia design does suck.
She is neither a romantic interest nor a cool interesting character.
What makes the story slop is the lack of genuine human emotion.
She is a stronk girl turned into a plot device.

At the very minimum, she could at least look hot since she is not doing anything.
It is better to stand there and look pretty than stand there and look ugly.
Western female design is currently ugly as sin.
There is nothing political about it, it is an observation. women do not like it either.
Despite the push for these characters, there is zero interest.
Meanwhile cosplayers still dress like anime characters or even like vintage Lara Croft.
Check out streamers like Freiya.

No one likes this design and you are defending a series of soulless corporate practices that go against your interests, and I cannot understand why.
Your message is that we should lower our standards.

How about you raise your bar instead? Play Arcane Dimensions, Play SiN, Play Blood Rayne. Should not have to put up with a $80 game from a corporation pushing an agenda onto you. You are doing a disservice to everyone, and don't think Id Software is happy pushing slop like this either.

The message is simple: tell Bethesda and Microsoft to sit on their thumbs and take a spin while creatives do their work. They suck sludge with a straw when it comes to studio management.

Now these are the kind of turboroasts I like to see. Go get 'em and fight back against the doomslop fanboys.

These guys wouldn't know a good Quake expansion if it slapped them in the space.

Arcane Dimensions and the Quake episodes done by Nightdive are genuinely great.

I really hope that this modern id software doesn't touch Quake, its good that they're keeping their NuCrap to Doom.

I am disappointed with how Dark Ages turned out but D16 and Doom Eternal are great games. I need to add that I have played Arcane Dimensions and I still think Eternal is cool.

I guess what I am trying to say is that there is also a counter-forum of people who have based their personalities around hating new things which is as irritating as people base their entire persona on crap like Star Wars.

I want to talk about what went right and what went wrong.
I agree the tone of the game nothing like Doom but it would had been salvageable as a Heretic reboot, I mean, in a way.
I do not like to be part of chorus but Theia is a bad character, the rest of the characters are not even accessories and there is a lot of stuff that just isn't Doom but it would had been cool elsewhere like the portal to the elder gods.
That is kinda cool.
Oh yeah, gameplay wise, I am not going to pretend the shield is not cool as all hell but the parry mechanic feels lackluster coming from Ultrakill.

I do actually really like Eternal, but I do genuinely think its a better game if you normalise the gameplay loop whilst keeping most of the mechanics.

I made a mod back in the day that basically removed some of the more arbitrary stuff like health / armor from flamethrower and blood punch, as well as buffed the weapons + health and armor pickups to compensate, and the game genuinely felt more fun. Though the Eternal Studio modding update broke the mod and I never went back and fixed it. :p

I think Doom TDA would've been a much more well received game if it wasn't sold as a Doom game, it really sucks that we can't have a unique IP in the current year coming from a triple A developer. Its all the same old rehashed crap sold under the same name.

I think Doom TDA would've succeeded if it was sold as a new named title entirely.
I am not buying this game no matter how "giga chad" the tda redditors say. A worse recycle with a higher price tag. Even 2016 doom had multiplayer with actual pvp, this can't even do multiplayer plus this has denuvo, hold this L now.

They screwed mick Gordon over and they got some bs soundtrack team from another studio to make the most generic bip bleep boom soundtrack imaginable yeah I'm pretty sure i know also if you wanna talk bout story how emotionally invested do you think any non-you/mentally ill person is into a half rehash of Thor dark world and partly Ragnarok but now girlbossa is both Valkira and Natalie Portperson at the same time

Agreed a 100% on that, also name of the mod? I think you can still make older mods playable if you mess with the launch options but don't quote me on that.

Yeah I think you're probably right. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this much in light of where they had taken the Doom IP, but it's actually pretty good.

I think if people came to this without any baggage, a fresh IP, the actual gameplay would stand on its own.
