Softlocked on chapter 5

So the games running smoothly, up until I suffer two crashes. Now whenever I try to open the first door after destroying the metal thing with my shield, the door will not open. It opened the first time I did this, but then it crashed. What is going on with this game?

Hey! Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your problem. But I have the same exact problem. You're the only person I've seen with the same issue so far. I opened a ticket with Besthesda support and sent them a video. They're suppose to work on figuring out the problem and get back to me. It's good to know I'm not the only person with this issue though. I have restarted from checkpoint, restarted the level (many many times lol), restarted the game (a few times), reinstalled the game. Nothing has worked. Only thing I can personally think may work is to restart the entire campaign. I really hope I don't need to do that and waste all those hours again, especially because who knows if it won't happen again. Very frustrating being stuck at this door, since I was enjoying the game so far. I will update you if/when I hear anything back from the support team. Let me know if you figure anything out!

I restarted the game from another save slot. It sucked, but that was the only thing that worked. So until they patch the game...who knows.

This is great info! Thank you for the update! I too have restarted the campaign on another save slot. I haven't had a ton of time to play, and have been lacking motivation because I was worried that the same thing would probably happen again and just be a big waste of time. Only on level 3 so far, but hopefully it works the second time around. I have a reddit post about this issue, and someone mentioned that someone else deleted their save file and restarted and it happened again. So I guess we'll see. It seems like every person I've encountered who has experienced this bug restarted the level at some point before it happened...so I'm assuming it has something to do with that, though idk for sure. I haven't heard anything back from Bethesda yet - I just emailed them asking if their was any update and letting them know all the info I've gathered about this bug in case it may help them. But yea, hopefully it works on a second save like it did for you!
