Synthetic Man... is Displeased with this game

This is a good review, actually. He is right about the parrying in the game. It feels very much displaced in a shooter game and one does this over and over again. There is no real skill required anymore to beat the game with this, combined with the powerful melee options, like the mace. In the two previous games it was necessary to move real fast to dodge projectiles and one also had to make use of the environment in the tight arena fights. Now, as he also describes in the video, it is very often that one can just stay at one location and parry/block everything.

Somehow they made a completely different Doom game and it makes me want to pick up the other games again when I finished it. Hopefully TDA did not spoil my muscle memory when I play 2016 or Eternal again.

I played the 22 chapters for 1 dollar of my first ever month and probably the last on gamepass because i wanted to see if it's even worth getting it later on. And it's not, or at least, i would only buy it if it was as low as 15$ someday.

He's not wrong, the balance between weapons is non existant, you can almost swap to any weapon of the roster and it does rarely make a difference because it's focused on melee and shield more then gunplay, the combat is very bland, and the music is unremarkable, feeling like AI generic soundtracks.

The overall graphic fidelity does not look better then previous entries, i'd even say that textures of the environment while upclose, look less defined and detailed then previous iterations of the franchise, especially less detailed then doom eternal.

But the worst is the hyper repetitive shield parry bash gameplay where guns are rendered almost completely useless for a FPS game that used to be weapon centric.

The overall game design and enemy encounters is laughable, boss battles are mostly cheap temu dark soul tier parry repeat 100 times until it's finished.

Check his channel... if you dare (I don't advise it). Making whiny rant videos about everything under the sun is his shtick.

All more reason to check his channel. Not his fault Gaming Industry is in the Toilet, but those who pre-order Premium Editions day-0 are guilty.

Quality over quantity. Life is too short to pay attention to D-List YouTube micro-celebrities.
