Anyone thinks Doom 3 /2004 is the best?
I duno why it feels nostalgic. It is more horror with sense wonderment, and up to date, it still has good graphics and technically astonishing.
Anyone agree?

It's pretty good. I remember the hype around it at release. It was very impressive and ahead of it's time.
I mean, if you count id's ♥♥♥♥♥ sound design whereby all weapons sound like pea shooters in Doom 3, then yeah, it's totally the best.

The best... not sure bout that. But i do love DOOM 3 and think it's a great game that is still fun to play.

The level design, lighting and sound in Doom 3 is still unbelievable. The environments in recent Doom games don’t come close.

Just watching clips of Doom 3 makes me want to replay it.

Watching clips of The Dark Ages does nothing for me. Not only that, but the gameplay looks just like 2016 and Eternal. Which id are aware of which is why they’ve added the shield, dragon and mech. Three terrible decisions.
I loved DOOM 3. I would not say its the best but its really a great game

Doom 3's atmosphere is unmatched, though some parts of the Cosmic Realm in Dark Ages are really cool in a different way. I'd love to see a modern take on the Doom 3 approach. Like the Dead Space remake without remaking anything.

Doom 3 is my most played game out of all in the series, and I think it has a lot to do with atmosphere. I'm willing to tolerate weird decisions and mechanics if I like the atmosphere. That's about where I am with Dark Ages as well. It's got some funkiness about it, but the overall atmosphere is cool enough for me to enjoy it.
nice horror atmosphere and amazing gfx for its time, but that's it. Happy we moved on from it.

Yeah I don't get why people were bashing all over it. It was an attempt at trying to make the game more horror-like. Sure, it didn't work, but plenty of ideas don't succeed right away.
Game was certain ahead of it's time but it went off course from Doom 1 and 2. For 1 thing in Doom 1 and 2 it was like 'kill demons, kill demons, kill demons !!!!! '. For 3 they added a horror element so gamers was like 'oh ♥♥♥♥ i need to be careful otherwise the scary demons will kill me'. Later on Bethesda fixed that design flaw in 3 by retconning it and continuing from Doom 64 which follows from Doom 2 in Doom 2016 so it is back to 'kill demons, kill demons, kill demons !!!!! ' for gamers in Doom Eternal and Doom TDA.

This makes Doom 3 the worst Doom game in the series.

Meh, Quake 4 was way better
Doom 3 sucks.

I really liked Doom 3. Granted that game came out half a lifetime ago for me. But for what it is, I really enjoyed it.

That's absolutely not true. Why the hell would you say that, just to disagree with someone? The shotty for example, sounds awesome with crystal clear reload sounds even....I don't think you have ever even played it.

They heard someone say it in a youtube video, that's where all these regurgitated opinions seem to come from. The pistol sounds a bit weak, so naturally all weapons must be pea shooters and the devs are incompetent, right?

Yeah, the glory days of hype. I had it reserved in 2 places and it ended up leaking a day or 2 early because a Best Buy didn't wait for the street date and people uploaded it.

I was playing it the night before it came out and my boss was jealous af. He was a gamer too. I came in late the day after it leaked, and he called me into his office. Everyone thought it was because I was in trouble for being late, but we were just talking about the game.

As much as I liked Doom 3, it's the least Doom of any of the Doom games.

Does anyone else remember/had the same sort of watershed moment like 3/4 through the game where you stopped very carefully and tactically crawling through the game to just kamikaze/ Leyroy Jenkensing the game? It was something that hit me and my friend at the same time. It was cool af at the beginning to kind creep through, but then you sort of got over it and were ready for the game to kind of get to the end.

idk if I'm explaining it well.
