The replay value of this game is stinky buttcheeks
I beat it for fun and am in the process of 100% it now. Nothing to do after :( hopefully there’s dlc or a hoard mode added or something

There will be dlc. but at least, its fun to replay the game at 150% speed and all modifiers at max difficulty. Though, its super tough, as damage to slayer is 500% and damage to demons is 50% lol
100% still has 10 Achievements missing lmfao

why did they do it like this?

"CAMPAIGN. THAT'S IT."

why??

even Doom 2016 had those timed score challenges for the main levels ... why wouldn't they give us even just a horde mode or something? how come I have to restart the entire chapter if I just want to ♥♥♥♥ around with the neater mechanics?? like, the start screen on this thing is laughably barren.

actually not really that laughable - quite sad. well, they chose their new direction. now they must live with it. I hope they're happy with their choices. maybe it worked out? doesn't look like it, but maybe it did.
yeah but you knew this is a fast food game and still had to buy it, that's on you lil buddy.
Doom's are a one play through, SINGLE PLAYER game.

Could add some master level or ng+ with skin

Then what do you say to all the people who played Eternal hundreds of times over?

Eternal was horrible and that would be a tiny sad minority lol
Metroid Dread took me 6 hours + however much from deaths forcing me to do stuff over. So maybe 8 total. I didn't do a 100% playthrough but that only would have been to get more power I didn't really need. It was $80CAD. Short linear games might take just as much time to craft as sprawling open world adventures, but open world games also usually have a lot of copy paste and playtime bloat from constant travel time.

If you've played any of the Doom's since 2016 you knew how this would be for length. If you didn't, now you know. There is no real point complaining about price anymore these days unless it's a first party Nintendo game. On PC it's basically 2 - 3 months then at least a 20% off sale and fewer bugs from patches, maybe even more features. If you bought this game having expectations for length at launch set by previous ones, it's cuz you figured it would be good enough you couldn't wait and that's what these launch window prices are based on.

I know you didn't specifically mention price, but I'm kind of assuming if the game was 50% off and just as long, you would have lower expectations and wouldn't complain it didn't have a lot of replay value. I don't care about a single player horde or arcade mode and am using a guide to get all secrets as I go, so outside of coming back to maybe do the same with actual new levels DLC this is one playthrough then basically done forever. It cost me $111CAD total getting the premium tier through GMG, that was to get discounted access to DLC as it comes out and soundtrack. It also had artbook in an app and early access as a bonus. Though I don't care about the art book app and I only had time for 2 levels during early access, which wasn't the selling point either. Eternal top tier digital preorder on Steam cost me $120CAD and that was just skins and season pass, no OST art book or early access. And Eternal took me about 11 hours for my playthrough, to be fair I didn't collect everything cuz I got sick of it and just wanted to finish it. Dark Ages may have fewer features than Eternal does now, but I'm enjoying it a lot more.

Rumor has it they'll be adding Myst style gameplay in the next DLC. Solve a plethora of puzzles in Hell that have stumped many a demon general. Going to be real banger.
Yeah, I was feeling really disappointed after beating the game once and seeing that I had gotten 100% Steam achievements and had everything unlocked in-game. Nothing left to do, after only owning the game for a few days. It made me realize just how spoiled we were with Eternal. We had the weekly challenges and events - which kept you grinding in order to unlock skins, profile icons/banners, etc. In addition to that, we had the Master Levels (with their own large set of rewards and unlockables) and more. Even after 100% completing the main campaign, Eternal had nearly endless content to keep the player engaged. Months and months after release, I was still playing Eternal on a nearly-daily basis. Just grinding away.
But after just a few days with Dark Ages, I've got nothing else to do. That's it.
Definitely a bit of a bummer.

Big agreement here. Having all the secrets labeled on the maps and ALSO being so easily accessible was a big letdown for me. That's half the reason i play these games honestly, and getting 100% for most levels on the first playthrough doesn't really give me a compelling reason to hop back in.

I'll be checking out the path tracing update but if it comes in the next few weeks I don't think that'll make me want to run through the entire game again so soon.
