Honestly, I think ULTRAKILL did it better.
Not to say one is just a lot better then the rest, but man I really like how ULTRAKILL handled this game mechanics more. I can tell that it's inspirations are from here albeit with some changes to overall gameplay by cutting off movement and making you a shield warrior, instead of the flying robot. But still, I don't like how all projectiles aren't parable. The game's roster is somewhat lackluster (Is anyone using the Ravager? Or how about the default Shotgun?) On the supposed "normal" difficulty you don't need to switch weapons often. That's fine, but you are a true grounded solider now. But you can also zoom half way across the screen with the shield, to clear fodder. That would be fine, but the input buffering is not great IMO and can destroy you very quickly. In fact you can die very quickly from those pesky enemies while you're fighting one on one with another. So you end up fighting, taking damage, and then while you're fighting you must either keep parrying the enemy and hope nothing else hits you (The stupid zombies..) or go out and seek health and then go back in. If you want us to stand our ground, why not just make it so parrying gives health? Easy way to incentive it.

Still, both good games but I love ULTRAKILL as a game much more and it's aesthetic and atmosphere are better as well. The enemies are also much more unique then these copy and pasted generic demons.

Again, not to say that either don't have flaws. But I was disappointing with this product despite not being done yet with the game.

Not even remotely similar.
Shield dash is more of an escape tool than an engager in my experience.

If you dash at a super heavy you are very often going to have to be ready to parry or take heavy damage/get stance broken.

I think Ultrakill is a great game but I also think the parry mechanics is not anywhere near as dominant as it is in this game. I dont think there's two are really very similar.

The shield dash is a great opener for combat. You can buff its damage, it gets you in close vs Cyber Demons and other enemies you don't want to be ranged from and you can use it to avoid incoming projectiles. You can also use it to trigger glory kills from long range. Shield dash and shotgun will take out imps.

Sure it will get you bitten by pinkies, or flamed by a Mancubus, but the utility of it is great.

Amid Evil is better medieval Doom that The Dark Ages.

I mean, they certainly aren't interchangeable for setting and that kind of experience.

I have the exact opposite. Shield dash is both. It's great crowd control and health pick ups. Then to get close to 'glory kill' and use a mace to one shot delete a huge elite.

Well no kidding. Atmosphere alone and soundtrack are different.
