Do you really have to have ray tracing to play? there a way to disable this?

No, it's very clear that it forces RT. You're going to have to get with the times and upgrade your GPU.
Raytracing is mandatory and unlike in other gamers, its not for fancy looks + game has very good optimisation(minus the Nvidia drivers)

The game factually, objectively is not well-optimized. It does not run well for how it looks.
No options to turn it off. With that being said, if you have a card that meets requirements, the game has run perfectly for me. It seems to be well optimized. I only had one map that seemed to have jitters in a particular section that I could replicate.

Apart from this there are no worthwhile games with forced sloptracing out there so no, dont spend 600€+ just for DOOM

No, you cannot disable it. Computer hardware and graphics move forward. You've had more than enough time to get a GPU that supports DXR/RT.

The games that are actually selling copies and making money don't require RT, which will continue for the foreseeable future.

Spoken like someone that can't run it.

False. Get a better PC. I run it at 4k maxed no problem.

That is irrelevant. There will be more and more games requiring RT-capable GPUs. Stop living in the past. Most PC gamers have an RT-capable GPU.

Seems like the truth hurt your feelings.

It's okay now, don't cry.

This game is factually, objectively very well optimized. Best frametimes in a game in the past 10 years.

That is irrelevant? LOL no it's not
Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't require RT
Elden Ring doesn't require RT
Expedition 33 doesn't require RT
Half Sword doesn't require RT

This game failed. This game is what's irrelevant. Hardcore gamers don't need to play every AAA game that comes out, that's like watching every marvel slop movie that comes out in 2025.

This game got 5x'd on concurrent player numbers by Expedition 33, a f'ing JRPG that DOESN'T REQUIRE RT. LOL.

And? RT is the future. Games requiring a certain level of hardware is the norm, you should get used to it.

Doom TDA is a massive success.
