Nightmare in this is easier than Ultra Violence in Eternal.
I think it's partly because the parry mechanic is so forgiving and the attacks are so heavily telegraphed, but the gameplay overall requires way less work mechanically.
There's a mod that disables the slow down effect on parries/melees, running that and turning the gameplay speed up to 150% with the smallest parry window possible sort of makes it better, but not really - because at the end of the day you just have less to do in this game to succeed.
There is no dash in this game. The attacks are heavily telegraphed and incredibly slow to accomodate parrying. There is no requirement for weapon swapping to be successful. It FEELS slower than Eternal even when at 150% with slow-mo completely disabled via mod.
Give me some examples of where you felt compelled to weapon swap in the game, like what missions and sections? The shield and mace pretty much eliminated needing to use any specific weapon for me. The shield runes were way more impactful to the point of being a little ridiculous. There's nothing that comes close to a Marauder in terms of speed and damage output by nature of how the game's combat is built. I never felt like I wasn't safe and so felt no urgency to kill faster.
Yah that's fine, I like things that challenge me and it's fairly rare to come across something that really pushes me. So when I run into games like TDA that are fairly forgiving and simplistic I'm not as engaged as I'd like to be.
