The game does not start
The game worked perfectly on my PC (5070Ti, R7 7700), but today it just stopped running. When launching, the game cursor is visible, the screen turns black, but I can hear music from the main menu. In the task manager, the game is displayed as active and I can navigate to the game and minimize it using alt+tab. I don't understand what this might be related to, the NVIDIA driver has already been reinstalled with a clean reinstall. I tried to run as an administrator, tried some settings for launching on Steam - it feels like the game will never start again. Please help anyone who knows the solution to the problem.

Delete the config file if it still doesn't work then try verify the game data:
Config file location:
%USERPROFILE%\SavedGames\idSoftware\DOOMTheDarkAges\base\

Have you tried verifying local files in steam for the game, maybe you have a corrupted file somewhere.
Game worked perfectly fine for me until the update to fix it crashing on boot up (go figure)
I have tried every single thing I can find online that people recommend to fix it but nothing has worked

Restart your PC. This is in the Developer FAQ.

The problem was solved by completely disabling the overlay from nvidia in the nvidia app :steamhappy:

Oh really? That is interesting. There is a setting the devs said to disable in the game if you want to use overlays and are having issues.

Yes, disabling the Nvidia overlay helped me solve the problem completely. I'm really curious how this is related, but in any case, if you disable the overlay, launch the game, and re-enable the Nvidia overlay, the problem will be solved and the overlay will remain active.
