Eternal had just the one big problem (NightMare difficulty sure, mostly masterlevels): glory/chainsaw kills. U're surrounded by enemies/projectiles right after animation, sometimes "about_oneshot". So the chaingun_shield was the only option to overcome that. The Only thing that developers should do:
1) make all enemy projectiles disappear
2) make all enemies run (in fear) from u, as far as they can during animation.
Developers didn't. They did it even worse in dark ages.
Also eternal had low playstyle variability(don see that as crucial problem): 3 out of 9 runes.

Dark ages has no variability at all: upgrade shield first, upgrade 1 rune, upgrade 1 melee, then try to upgrade weapon u like.
So what's the point in different runes/melee?

Heavy weapon (1 GUN!) in eternal could do 3 things: machine/sniper/rocket shots. Now we got two weapons to do 2/3 of previous one.
ETC...same about all the weapons.
Devs even couldn't invent alt-weapon for chainshot. No fantasy?
Scull_crusher and scull_crusher_2? srsly? No fantasy?

Why should I even have to modify item_drop_difficulty to feel lack of ammo anyway? Now i'm trying to compete DA with NM-difficulty with all scrollers-modifiers-maxout to get some kind of challenge (Not sure, that this possible for me, alteast i'll try half of game). I completed NM(100%) with just about one weapon (choose any u like), no lack of ammo, so boring. Main Eternal probelm is still here (and even worse): u're being killed during animation (melee/glory). So yeah, there's a bit lack of ammo (for me), because i'm afraid to use melee during heavy combat.

Eternal was competing to UltraKLill.
I was expecting that devs just resolve glory_animation_problem and add chainsaw with parries, so DA could overcome UK (even as a tank playstyle). But that's not what gonna happen.

5 years of developing for what? 1 glorykill animation for every enemy?
No enemy weakpoints.
I'd like to see DA_master_level where u fight against 10 Arachnotrons at the same time, which constantly hitscan U from all sides (yeah, U can stun one). But U could defeat almost any number of any enemies in Eternal, if u know how to fly, u know what i mean.
Why should I use energy weapons against energy_shields if they're getting oneshot with shieldsaw?
Atleast I expected different worlds/bioms/realms where I meet the predecessors of demons from 2016/eternal/Cthulhu/... all in one game. Just skins variation. Where're summoners/Archviles? Oh yeah, let's wait DLCs (iconic move).
No more funny ammo colours. They were just an idea of infinite power that slayer uses as ammo. After every chainsaw animation I SAW what weapons re loaded through those colours.
Devs could make empowered first shot with any gun, so weapon swithcing atleast would make sense. On the contrary, you are being punished for switching weapons with no-shield-frames.

Doom2 -best fps at the time of release.
Doom3 -nearly best graphics and horror at the time of release.
Doom2016 -best fps at the time of release.
DoomEternal -best fps at the time of release.
DoomDA -average BS at the time of release.
I hope u see the key word up there, and whats wrong.

The storyline never made sense. But why slayer got out of control....just to continue to serve the same people... at his own will?

I can keep going on the list for a very long time (i don even bother to mention atlan_mech/dragon; i like it, coz it takes rather small part), but I'm tired, and tired of this boring game.

Yeah, I agree. It has a lot of issues and unfortunately missed out on a lot of things that made UK so good.
