Is this game more like doom 2016 or eternal ?

I love doom 2016,
I hate doom eternal (Like, hate it - really really hate it).
Is this game similar to the former or the latter ?

Id tech 8 is really well optimized so this is more like the old school dooms with way more demons to tear through.

The new melee mechanic and shield are unique so it is its own thing but sadly the gunplay isn't very good.
Also, why would you hate Eternal, it was hands down the best game released by a western studio since Half Life 2,

I'm currently at chapter 6 and the previous chapter fell like HL 2 sewer level with even bigger map, so far gameplay seems like a mix between doom 2016 and eternal with an emphasis on exploration.

This game basically copied Serious Sam 5. All the Doom games just copied Serious Sam. The Doom guy just isn't Serious enough IMO
