Really Wanted to Like This Game
It's badass, i love the aesthetic but constantly having to parry in combat isn't it. Shame they went that direction because the rest of the game rocks. Unfortunately parrying kills the pace of combat imo, hate it in dark souls, hate it in poe2, hate it here.

I tried to return to doom eternal after tda, and eternal feels like a seizure fest, especially when five demons spawn behind you and backstab you to instant death.

parry is fine, the only downside it forces you into waiting and passive reaction play, instead of actively using abilities

Not being able to animation cancel into a parry is definitely one of the choices of all time.
I switched the parry color to purple. Upped the game speed to 150%
Increased projectile speed and lowered the parry window time.

You can animation cancel to parry. I do it all the time. Super shotgun shot -> parry during reload. -> super shotgun shot.

Naw, best part of the game are those 2002 throwback turret sections. It's super inventive to reach so far back into the bag that literally no one saw it coming.
