What happened to the Doom franchise?

So far I am enjoying the game. Way better than that Doom Eternal Jump'n Run failure. Great sound, great environments and enemies, punchy combat. What more can we ask for?

They were tapped after Eternal and in the quest for a fresh formula they ended up making a fun game that strayed too far from Doom's core identity.

LMFAO, no it did not, that is the biggest load of horse s*it I have ever heard. The Dark ages is the worse in the franchise, Eternal was poor and 2016 was only very average. Last good Doom game was 3BFG. Last 2 games have too much fluff, Eternal with it's Mario style jumping and platforming and The Dark Ages with it's Train Your Dragon section and the horrible mech parts.

Doom now has completely lost what it's identity, a fast paced ballsx to the wall no messing demon slaying blood and gore fest with a kick a*s heavy metal soundtrack. Now it is just a p*sspoor FPS with the Doom name slapped on it.

Fact are that the last good Doom game was 3BFG, then they decided to re-boot the series with pointless fluff and gimmicks and completely eradicate everything that was good about Doom.

running in circles shooting demons with a shotgun or plasma gun, switching to super shottie for bigger demons? idk the only thing they really changed from the original formula is parries and getting ammo on punch.
