This game is proof that you can't sell a game for 80 euros/dollars
Let's be honest, in this economy, in these times, you would have to have something wrong with you to actually buy a 80 euro game right now. I think all of us are waiting for a sale, and I would go as far as to say that the game's playercount might actually peak the moment it goes on sale rather than on release.

I'm excited to play the game, it looks great. However, there is just no way I can afford it right now.

IF it wasn't on gamepass people would have bought it, it's a good game probably not as good as the last game but still since they put it on gamepass of course the majority will go gamepass especially when basically every single streamer and youtuber is telling their community don't buy the game just play it on gamepass.

Now I'm just curious like how does a 150-200mill game make a profit when you have like 70-90% of people playing on gamepass instead of buying the game?

I mean, if they made a badass Doom game that looked like Doom, with modding, community servers, mapping tools, etc I'd pay $150 for it. When they showed the dragon flying level in the first preview, I instantly lost interest in this game and id software.

You can't shovelware names like DOOM. You just can't. You can shovelware names like Pokemon or Mario or Zelda or whatever, but you can't shovelware DOOM. It was a name made famous by SMART COMPUTER NERDS. Who do they think they're selling this game to??

You know I'm willing to give it a shot, I'm glad ID is experimenting even if this is the furthest departure the series has had so far from the original vision of DOOM.

I think the most concerning part I have noticed about this game release is that nobody seems to be able to read anymore, not even numbers. People can't seem to be able to read the recommended or even minimum specs anymore, let alone be able to interpret the gpu/cpu versions. Then there's the many people like you saying these things about some 80$/euro price tag. Can anyone even provide a single screenshot where the base game costs any more than $70? Cause I sure as ♥♥♥♥ haven't never seen it but yet here are so many people complaining about $80, I mean if you're gonna complain about the price at least get the price correct ffs...

It's so scary when we have this thing that gives you all these answers yet people would rather just be cattle and listen to a couple people and just run with that without ever doing their own research when said research consists of just looking at the steam page and looking at the price, pretty widely available information... but no, nobody has their own freewill anymore and does their own research, and it's clear as day

you can't sell an overpriced game that doesn't run on most hardware for very arbitrary and false reasons. that's a double whammy.

Idk go check it on some website if you want you complete idiot, not my problem. As far as I'm aware I'm of sound mind and don't have problems with my vision, so when I see "79,99€" I think I can safely conclude that the game costs 80 euros.

Again, show me a screenshot, and of actual official sources, not some weird key site, cause I have not seen a single place where this game is officially sold for more than $70

Welp, sucks that you guys are part of only 10 countries that have this issue, sorry you live where you live but this isn't the standard lol
goodgame May 17 @ 1:20pm
I'll add that when you don't own a game like Doom on a physical copy it reinforce the apathy for that very specific product as well as being overpriced, and with the growing customer apathy for Tech and entertainment in general, it's a bad move reinforcing this sentiment when Doom games were allways on physical medium of any sort.

Along with the hardware requirements, not to talk about the allways online requirement to just even launch a single player game.

All previous Doom games were all preservable, not this time around.

That's a lot to swallow in one pill. And a hard one to.

Now I'm just curious like how does a 150-200mill game make a profit when you have like 70-90% of people playing on gamepass instead of buying the game?
Is has nothing to do with being on gamepass, oblivion remastered is on game pass and expedition 33 too and both had 150k and 250k players on steam but they were 45 and 55 bucks compared do 80-110,game pass is irrelevant, game has Denuvo too which people constantly downvote and don't like it and forced ray tracing, even now 20 days after launch oblivion has 50k and expedition 33 90k current player atm

Yes it does DOOM TDA is a short game 12-18hrs with no multiplayer what so ever it's a one and done short campaign and it's more expensive.

Oblivion is a massive game with much much more replayability with hundreds of hrs of content that was cheaper.

The price and gamepaass most definitely had a effect on people.
