Removing mandatory RT, the game runs fine on a old rx 580...
Thanks to ID software sponsoring Gimpwork so nvidia can finally force you to ditch your gtx 1080 TI for overpriced ♥♥♥♥ gpus, people have found ways to remove the Ray Tracing forced ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on this game on nexus mods.

Thank you very much for forcing the community to allways find solutions to the fake problems and fake obsolescence you cause for everybody :)

Only works on Linux though and butchers the graphics.

Also doesn't work on gamepass version so far.

But still very cool for modders to make the game playable for lower end hardware.

Still shows not only it's possible but it was easily done by not even having the in engine tools, it proves that it's 2000% a deliberate ♥♥♥♥ choice that has no bearings in reality cauz the ennemies can be dismantled and still shot at without RT.

This excuse and argument from ID for mandatory RT doesn't stand at all and can be put to rest.

It runs at 42 fps on the rx 580. it's fine for most people yeah. it just shows how much better it should run on higher end hardware without the fake excuse of Ray tracing gimpworks that fills up your vram for no good reason.

It's like 40-60fps on a 580 of all things that's fine for most people on low end hardware.

You should be happy that more people can play the game not less.

The funny thing is the game running without RT on more recent hardware does not even look that different then with RT on. almost insignificantly different.

It's literally a mod that came out a day ago and so far not a single person has complained about such a issue on the mod.

Why does it seem like you don't like it when people find ways to play a game which was impossible to play just a day ago?

What are you a negative Nancy or something.

ID's Fallacy to present Ray tracing as mandatory was that ray tracing was used for projectile damage on monsters, it just fell apart immediately after stripping it out of the game.

It's just funny how it was objectively and quantifiably false.

It does not, it dips into single digit FPS frequently on a level that doesn't even have much going on, you can see that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn6-xSYsN4I
Also isn't this just forcing software raytracing, and not removing it?

It's also a mod that just came out the other day so yea there's bound to be problems and it is being played on very old hardware at near playable framrates with hitches here and there.

Give it time modders are going to go to ♥♥♥♥ around with the game to make it playable on many rigs.

I am not arguing against the existence of the mod, I love mods. But the whole argument OP is presenting is that Dark Ages doesn't need ray tracing to run, when this mod is simply forcing software ray tracing instead.

You cant remove it! If you remove RTGI its like shut down the sun.

The whole lighting is RTGI based. Raytracing is not just reflections...

Maybe these "remove raytracing guys" should understand WHAT RTGI does...

Its so dumb
This simply emulates RT on software level with an expected result of FPS drops into single digits in places where nothing much is happening, rendering at 360p mind you. Yeah, sounds playable 😂

As you already wrote (fantastic comment by the way):

Coming right up, just after "disable textures" and "disable animations" updates. Oh wait, we'll probably have to wait for at least "disable physics" before that. Well, maybe "disable shadows" as well.
