Doom Eternal was amazing....

...at equipping everyone with rose-colored glasses. I replayed it a month before release of Dark Ages just to check-in, and the new game is objectively better. No, really, this is considerably better than Doom Eternal.

Do you miss swapping weapons every twenty seconds? Let's be clear- not to use something more effective for the encounter in which you find yourself, but because you were out of ammo? Do you remember frantically looking for the glory kill because you needed iframes far more than health or ammo? Do you remember CONSTANTLY checking you map only to find that the "?" you've been eyeing for forty minutes can only be opened if you teleport back at the end of the level. DO YOU REALLY MISS HAVING SIX (6) CURRENCIES? DO YOU MISS CULTIST BASE????

No, male between sixteen and forty: you don't miss Cultist Base; you've forgotten it.

Do you miss puzzling out whether it was jump-dash-dash-jump or jump-dash-jump-dash-dash? Are you haunted by hourglasses? Did you ever try to form a firm opinion between two clearly valueless shotgun mods?

Doom Eternal is there, in your library, waiting for you to plumb it's secrets...both of them. Go play it. Play it after Dark Ages. Come back in a week and tell me how you feel.

Dark ages for the win, eternal was hmmm too candy or like cod of dooms, after finishing dark ages I would never put eternal higher lol.

I was very good at Quake, Quake II and Quake III. Online, playing in tournaments that mattered with people that mattered. Doom Eternal is the most intense single player FPS experience, though not my favorite. I presume if you want a slower experience, you probably do not have the same history.

If I wasn't good at video games, I would think this is better than Eternal, too. Thankfully, that's not the case, though, phew!

THIS is exactly why Doom Eternal left a bad taste in my mouth. I hated the rotation of chainsaw / melee / fire thrower to keep fueled. Just thought that was dumb mechanic. I preferred Doom 2016 over Eternal actually. Was wondering is this game was like Eternal or not. Sounds like there may be enough that I would like to give id another shot.
